The amount of days on a ship could be quite boring. Especially when most of your friends had to run it and not converse with anyone all day. But I managed to keep myself entertained. Reepicheep was a big help to that problem, he sung songs and told me tales. And Drinian allowed me to roam through the findings we stored in the ship. Lots of books were in the chests so I always had one on me.
Caspian himself was very busy, although he tried to pretend he wasn't. I guess he wanted to assure me he could handle it on his own. And I didn't doubt that, he's a wonderful king. But everyone needs help at one time or another.
I was currently sitting below deck in a hammock reading a book. It was one of the books about the Kings and Queens of Old. I laughed at how they portrayed the Pevensie's to be, regal and posh, but I knew they were big dorks inside.
Just as I reached the page of the Tale of the White Stag, a big commotion began upstairs. I could hear the crew shouting and clamoring to get someone onboard.
Sighing, I stood up and made my way to the open deck. The crew still ran around while Caspian was hugging two very familiar people.
Edmund and Lucy
I smiled largely and shoved past the busy men. Throwing myself at Edmund, I hugged him very tightly and caused him to stumble back from my momentum. He laughed and once he realized it was who he had been waiting for, he wrapped his arms around me and lifted me off the ground.
He set me back on the ground after a few seconds and we looked into each other's eyes.
"Told you I'd come back." he smirked.
I rolled my eyes and turned to Lucy. We giggled and hugged each other tightly.
"I'm glad you're here. Both of you." I said once we pulled apart.
"Didn't you call for us?" Lu asked while the both of them wrapped theirselves up in towels.
"Not this time." Caspian answered, shaking his head.
"Well whatever the case, I'm just glad to be here." Edmund said cheerfully. We smiled at each other and intertwined our hands.
All of us turned our heads as a very high pitched scream rang throughout the deck. Reepicheep was tossed from wherever and he landed in front of us.
"Reepicheep!" Lucy exclaimed.
I looked to where the screams came from as the two siblings conversed. It looked like they brought a young boy with them.
"What to do with this mysterious interloper?" he asked.
"That giant rat thing just tried to claw my face off!" the boy yelled in a hoarse voice.
"I was merely trying to expel the water from your lungs sir." Reep replied calmly.
The boy stood up in confusion, "It talked! Di-did anyone just see that? It talked!"
"Actually it's getting him to shut up is the trick." Caspian joked. All of us laughed and Reep rolled his eyes.
"The moment there is nothing to be said, your majesty, I promise you, I will not say it." he replied.
"I don't know what kind of prank this is but I want to wake up right now!" the boy yelled.
"Perhaps we can throw him back?" the small mouse asked hopefully.
I looked over at Edmund. He was making a face of consideration until Lucy elbowed him.
"Edmund!" she scolded.
"I demand to know where in the blazes am I!" he shouted while crying.
A Minotaur walked up to him, "You're on the Dawn Treader. The finest ship in Narnia's navy."
The boy fainted and we all laughed at him. Caspian told them to see to him and I let go of Edmund's hand.
"Men! Behold our stowaways! Edmund the Just and Lucy the Valiant, High King and Queen Of Narnia." Caspian announced.
Everyone bowed to them, including me.
•••••••••••••
I led Lucy down to where I kept my clothes.
"Here. Have this. It's around your size I believe." I said while handing her a new set of clothes.
She thanked me and I left to let her change. Caspian and Edmund waited outside on the main deck. I descended the steps toward them and smiled brightly at Edmund. He returned the smile and was about to say something but Lucy walked down.
Caspian walked us down to the map room where the siblings looked around in awe. Lucy was drawn to the gold carving of the Great Lion on the wall.
"Aslan." she whispered, stroking the carving fondly.
She looked back around and spotted more items. "Susan's bow and arrows!"
Caspian turned around and removed something from one of the cabinets.
"My healing cordial! And dagger!" Lu exclaimed. She eagerly reached out to grab them but stopped herself.
"May I?" she asked.
"Of course. They're yours." Caspian replied. Lucy smiled and gladly took them back. Edmund wandered around until his eyes landed on one particular item.
"Peter's sword."
Caspian retrieved it and held it out.
"I looked after it as promised. Here, hold it if you'd like." he offered.
Edmund backed away, "Oh no, Peter gave it you."
Although he seemed slightly disappointed, Edmund smiled reassuringly at the older King. Caspian retrieved yet another thing from the cabinet.
"I did save this for you though."
He tossed Ed his torch from his last adventure here. I smirked as he flashed it on and blinded himself.
