(Jacob's P.O.V.)
I don't know what's gotten into Sadé. She knows that I'm dating Jasmine, so why did she come onto me like that? But I can't lie, I had enjoyed it... But it wasn't right. I can't cheat on Jasmine. Although she may be a pain in the neck, I love her, but I'm not in love with her -- I could never be. How am I supposed to claim I'm in love with Jasmine, when my heart is still yearning for Sadé? Ugh, why does love have to be so complicated?
I rotated my neck as I glanced at my digital clock, it was twelve O'clock midnight and Jasmine still wasn't home yet. Part of me wants to blow up her phone with hateful messages, but the other part of me is telling me to calm down and just wait for her arrival. Besides, I have to trust my girlfriend -- I'm sure Jasmine would never cheat on me, well at least I hope not.
Small light peered into the dark bedroom as the bedroom door slowly creaked open. I waited patiently for whoever was behind the door to make their entrance -- secretly hoping it wasn’t Sadé coming back to seduce me, once again.
Jasmine’s head gradually peeked into the room, and she studied her surroundings. She stood still and the room went tranquil -- the only audible noise was the sound of cool air coming out of the A/C vents. Jasmine tip toed into the bedroom as she clutched her Coach purse tightly to her chest, groaning as she stumbled over small objects that were laid upon the ground. The lack of light made it difficult for Jasmine to find her way, but after tripping over a few more objects, she finally made it to the bed.
Jasmine deliberately sat her purse down on the bed, attempting to be as soundless as possible - also making it clear to me that she thought I was still sleeping. I shuffled around in bed before I spoke, “Hey, babe.” My deep voice had frightened her, causing her to react by flinching. She shot her head up and pressed her palm against her chest as her breathing began to speed up.
She regained her posture and spoke. “Hey, Jacob! You’re still awake? I expected you to be sleeping by now.” She flashed me a fake smile as she avoided any type of eye contact.
I nodded, of course you did - I thought. “Oh, well I couldn’t sleep knowing that you weren’t home. Where have you been?” I studied her body language for a split second. She sucked on her bottom lip as glanced around the room, looking for something that would assist her in answering my question.
As if a small light bulb had flashed over her head, she thought of a response. “I was having dinner with Damien, remember? Duh.” She replied hastily, giving me a sign that she was lying. She glanced at me as if I was stupid, her fake smile still plastered on her face.
“Yeah, I remember. How could I forget?” I mumbled the last part as I kissed my teeth and rolled my eyes.
But the question is, how does Jasmine expect me to believe her deceitful lies? Who goes out to dinner for six hours -- especially with a man they just met? I decided to question her further, “What took you so long?” I sat up in bed, tightly crossing my arms over my chest. I was going to interrogate her until she finally cracked and told me the truth.
“What do you mean?” She leisurely began to strip out of her clothes, purposely dropping her tank top onto the floor so she could "casually" bend over and pick it up.
I mentally slapped myself when I realized that I was hungrily staring at her exposed body - Jasmine caught me staring and smirked. I turned my head away from her, “You’ve been gone since six o’clock, it’s twelve midnight.”
“Your point?” She crawled into the bed, leaning over a bit as she wrapped her arms around my torso. She placed her head on my chest and snuggled against me.
