Chapter five
" Take that!" Tyler shouted gleefully at Taylor as he beat his twin once again at Dance Central. Taylor groaned in defeat and slumped down on the couch where all the dancers had watched him and his brother battle it out to what they acted was the death. " And Tyler is the champion for the fourth time in a row! An undefeated warrior! Care for a rematch, brother?" Tyler mocked. Taylor only buried his head in a throw pillow, causing some of the dancers to laugh good-heartedly.
" How about you, Soph?" he asks suggestively, raising an eyebrow. Everyone knows that Tyler is the biggest player on earth and the only ones he hasn't yet seduced besides Violet and Caroline was Charlie and I. Something about Charlie seems off-limits to Tyler though, so I'm usually his number one target. It's really quite annoying actually. I don't need to date anyone to feel wanted. I'm a lead dancer now. Besides, I don't need a petty relationship to distract me from my dancing. Especially now.
I roll my eyes and stand up. I know I'd beat him even if he didn't try to let me win.
" Ready to get creamed?" I ask him teasingly, grabbing the controller from his hands and picking the most difficult dance in the entire game.
" Oh, it's on now Soph," he said, his eyes gleaming.
" Uggh, don't call me that," I whine. The only people I allow to call me Soph or Sophie is Paige and Maddi and occasionally Charlie, but anyone else I get super pissed at. Sophie or Soph is just so middle school bff sounding, totally unprofessional. Sophia on the other hand sounds very professional and experienced. Just like a lead dancer should be.
" Ha, I know you love it," Tyler teases.
" Shut up, you're up next anyways, and don't let me win on purpose," I tell him sternly.
" Yes mother, and why on earth would I let you win anyways?" he asks innocently. I can see the competitiveness in his eyes and know that this battle won't be won easily.
The dance starts and Tyler moves flawlessly to the song, following the moves that pop up on the screen easily, in the end getting a near perfect score.
" Beat that Hennerson," Tyler challenges.
Sure, Tyler was a good dancer, but personally, I think that his twin, Taylor is much better, even if he did just get beat for times in a row at an incredibly easy dance game. Secretly, if I could date anyone here, it would definitely be Taylor, but sadly he's much to shy and I wouldn't know if he was interested in me or not, and I'm certainly not going to be the one who tries to find out.
It's my turn now. I step onto the platform and face the T.V. as the music comes on. Effortlessly, I follow every single step. So easy. My score is flawless, perfect actually, and I end up beating him.
" Looks like the king has been overthrown," I smirk.
" Rematch," Tyler says stubbornly.
" Nah, I've got harder things to do than beating a so called "champion" at some video game," I reply, putting quotation marks up with my fingers as I said champion, knowing that if I did another round with Tyler he would have already won in his own mind in getting what he wanted. And that wasn't the title of Champion.
So instead I turn on my heel and flounce out of the room, smiling to myself at my own little victory.
