➸ the fifth nightartemis sniffled, earlier that day she had confronted her so called friend. aria had told her how she only pittied arte, how she wanted to stop being her friend once she found out she was orphaned as a child. how the only reason she stayed is because she liked apollo- artemis' twin brother.
her mother and father really loved greek gods and goddesses, clearly.
artemis swung her legs onto the ladder, heading onto the rooftop before hades to came. the smell of nicotine had already hit her face, her eyebrows scrunched at the sight of a figure already sitting there. seemingly, waiting for her arrival.
"hades," she breathed, wiping away her stray tears.
"you're late," he whispered with a frown. the cigarette in his hands fell off the railing onto the city ground.
"no i'm not, you're early."
he shrugged. "same difference."
arte glanced at him every once in a while, completely forgetting her dreams.
"why do you keep coming here?" she repeated the question from the other night.
"i like being here, with you."
"why?" she couldn't help but wonder.
"why do you come here every night?" he directed back to her.
"i like to dream, it gives me peace to think of something better," she muttered, swinging her legs.
"i like to think of something better, too."
"like what?"
she was painfully curious about him, he liked that.
"you, me, us," he admitted.
she smiled. "there is no us, hades."
"well, not yet."
she never believed him, but laughed anyway.
"what do you like to dream of?" he muttered. she pursed her lips.
"a happier life, i guess. that's all i ever wanted," arte told him honestly.
he nodded, inching closer to her. the night wind grew harder, artemis shivered in her sweater. she wasn't dressed well for the weather, just a loose fitting sweater, jeans and ankle boots. her hair was in her face, her hands slipped into the hands of the sweater.
hades put an arm around her, providing body heat for arte.
"thank you," she muttered. silence took over them, but not in hades' head. he struggled to figure out what he wanted, but decided on what exactly he wanted to say.
"i like to dream about a happy family."
