night six

➸ the sixth night

artemis and hades started to hang out during the day. sunday morning was when arte met his two friends, miles and oakley. although she had known miles since she was a child, miles and apollo were childhood friends. he knew them before the accident.

she liked them, and they liked her- but mostly, they liked her with hades.

night had strolled in, on the starry rooftop sat artemis and hades once again. arte laughed at the corny pick-up lines hades met her with.

"if you were a sea, i would swim in you forever."

artemis cringed. "ew."

hades laughed, arte loved his laugh so she smiled. only the laughter stopped when artemis frowned.

"what?" he asked her. she shook her head, coming up with a fabricated smile of glass. the glass had broken however, and her true feelings poured out.

"when are you leaving?" his heart broke at the innocent curiousity in her face. she genuinely wanted to know.

"what?

"i just- i don't like to be surprised. i'd rather enjoy you now while i can, knowing how much time i have left before you leave too."

his body turned to face hers, the palms of his hands held her face lightly.

"i'm not going to leave you," hades told her with all sincerity.

"that's exactly what my mother said before she downed a bottle of vodka and went for an evening stroll."

hades' phone rang.

"are you going to get that?" artemis whispered. hades stayed silent, staring at the phone with the name 'isabel' luminating his phone.

hades never spoke a word after that. he stood up, taking his arm around the confused girl. before leaving, he turned back and kissed her cheek. the smell of cigarettes and green apple disappeared, just as her heart did.

artemis sat there for a second, grabbing her phone and pulling up a contact.

arte: he left.

miles: i'll be there soon.

he was, miles stood in front of his car. he grabbed a jacket from the backseat, a jacket that smelled like green apples. artemis thanked him, getting into the car and driving off.

"he didn't mean to make you feel like that," miles tried convincing her.

"he said he wouldn't leave."
