"Dad, please, it's really not a big deal!"

Jason chased after his father Marvin, who had the fury of a thousand flaming suns in his eyes and hands balled up so tight they would probably get stuck together if held in the same position for too long. Ever since he was young, the older male had quite the parent issues. They never acknowledged his existence. Because of this, he did his best to bond with his children, even if it resulted in him getting rather aggressive when they were attacked in any way.

"They don't mean it!" He shouted. "They're just troubled!"

"Troubled my ass! Those kids don't have the right to mess with my kid! No matter their damn parents, they're gonna get their asses kicked!" Marvin spat, yanking up his sleeves higher than they already were. It definitely cut off some circulation.

His many attempts at preventing the fight were all failures. The two had gotten over to Mendel and his sons in no time. When getting face to face with them, both knew that this was probably a mistake, but Marvin Chip Abelman was no quitter. His belief in not quitting definitely got him in a few scraps, though. This wouldn't be too bad. Mendel was a wimp.

A large grin grew on the shorter man's face as they approached. Their last meeting was a month ago, so it was nice seeing Marvin and Jason again, especially since he finally had the opportunity to introduce them to his sons. Of course, it surely wouldn't go as planned.

"Jason!" Mendel bent down to his step-son's height and ruffled his hair. "How have you been? Your mom's been asking all about you! You really need to sleep over again soon, it was fun last time!"

He stayed in that position for a while, showering Jason in compliments and telling him about things that had happened since they last met. It seemed to mostly be the same schedule. All they did at his mother's house was talk, exercise, and..well, that's about it. Of course, they did other things every so often, but that wasn't exactly worth mentioning.

Finally, he realized that Marvin was still standing there, and noted his obvious anger. "Marvin, great seeing you. I hope your new shrink is nice."

"You never gave me a new one." The older male stated dryly.

"Oh, well, how's Whiz-"

"I'm not here for a pleasant little chat, you wife-stealing son-of-a-bitch." Jason glared at his dad, who was more than prepared to call his stepfather out. "Your two gremlin sons here have been bullying my kid. They owe him a god damn apology!"

"Marvin, Marvin..it's not bullying! They're brothers! Michael and Jeremy are just messing around. Right, boys?"

Michael and Jeremy nodded. Although they looked like proper young men, anyone could tell the true evil growing inside of them. Jason resorted to nervously standing behind his father for support. Whatever it took, this torment couldn't go on any longer, not if Marvin had anything to say about it.

There was momentary silence. The taller of the two decided to speak before his "friend" had the chance to. All he was saying were pure lies. "I don't give a fuck what you think it is! Jason couldn't sleep in his own bed for a week because of them! They almost broke his rib-cage! You can't tell me that they're just 'joking around', because they clearly aren't!"

"They're fourteen! They wouldn't pick on an innocent boy like Jason! I didn't raise them like that!" Mendel wrapped his arms around Jeremy and Michael's shoulders. "Trina and I would never let behavior like that stand in our household! In all honesty, I think he's the one tormenting them!"

"Are you fucking serious?! Trina can't raise any sort of kid right! I told you what she did to Jason, and he's still getting over it! It's been four years since it happened! That probably means it was pretty fucked up!"

"I think I see where he gets his lying from, including his foul mouth. She wouldn't do that to him! She loves him!"

He gripped his son's hand, and angrily yelled, "You're not the one that got fucking hit!"

And with that, Jason started sobbing, clinging onto his father's shirt for support. Marvin couldn't help but start tearing up as well. Even if he was a certified therapist, Mendel didn't have a single clue as of how to support them. Sure, his patients had broken down before, but he never treated children and fathers at the same time. Marvin was a...special case, to say the least. His family was definitely an odd one. Of course, if it wasn't for him, they wouldn't be in such a great position, so he couldn't complain. Still, things were tense.

Nothing else could be said after that. Eventually, Whizzer approached, kicked Mendel straight in the balls, and took his boys out of there alongside Whitney. The baseball game never started. News broke out about the argument, and Mendel's kids were kicked off the team. They decided to postpone the event until Jason was ready to play.

The season ended before they could play again.

"How was school, Jase?" Whizzer asked as his son walked through the door, backpack straps lazily strung over his shoulders.

There wasn't a response. Ever since the last baseball game, Jason barely ever spoke. The bullying had only gotten worse because of it. Marvin was barely sleeping, instead spending his nights trying to find other schools and crying. Nobody heard him, since he mostly just hid in the bathroom when having his breakdowns. On the other hand, their little girl, Whitney, was doing great. She turned four at the start of October. They signed her up for daycare. Playmates were almost always at their home on weekends. It was nice, having some joy in the family's life.

Everyone was quiet for some time. Nobody knew what to say. Sure, there were actually lots of things to speak of, but they were all too anxious. Right when things got too awkward, though, Jason spoke for the first time in quite a while,

"I got in a fight."

Whizzer's eyes went as wide as humanly possible. He slammed his hands on the table. "With who?!" Although he was trying to look angry, anyone could tell that he was incredibly proud of his favorite little guy kicking someone's ass.

"Michael and Jeremy. They lost."

"Jason, you can't-"

Suddenly, Marvin burst through the bathroom door, smiling wide. The two in the kitchen stared at him. Not even Whizzer knew he had gone in there. Guess he left work early.

"Fuck yeah, Jase!" He exclaimed. "That's my boy!"

Jason's face beamed. "Thanks dad!"

"We're takin' you out for ice cream! You deserve it kiddo!"

Whizzer rolled his eyes, arms crossed. "Jesus.."
