"Jason!"
That's the only thing he heard before it faded to black. Surrounded by a small pool of blood, there he laid. The thought of what happened almost completely vanished. All he could think of was the pain that he felt. It stabbed him like a sharp blade, which was rather ironic, since that's exactly what they had used at one point.
When he woke up, all he could hear was the sobbing of his father, who had been sitting in the room since they first had been admitted. No one else was there. Soon, Marvin had realized his son was awake for the first time since they found him lying there.
There was a silent exchange between the two. The elder of the family shakily pulled himself onto the bed, seating himself beside his son. Not much could be said. Everything that had occurred before still remained in their minds. Even if they were incredibly appreciative that he had woken up at all, a sense of dread still remained.
"I'm glad to see you up, kid." He told him, doing his best to avoid eye contact. There was obviously something on his mind. Something heavy. No need to push, of course. Maybe he'd reveal after a little while. "I know this is..a bit soon, but we need to talk."
Jason pulled himself into a sitting position. Even if it hurt him incredibly, laying down would not help. "Okay..?"
"You need to know a few things before-" Apparently what he was about to say was so shocking that he had to stop himself. Still, lying wouldn't work anymore. All he could do was tell the truth. No matter the sorrow. "Before I have to give my life up. Still, just- just listen to me for a second, okay? I want you to always respect your dad, your stepdad, and your mom. They might be a bit insufferable at times, but they really do care about you." He wrapped his arm around Jason in a reassuring manner. "But if anyone ever messes with you, you need to tell someone. Fighting and screaming is never the answer. It'll just give you more enemies than friends. Help out your sister sometimes too, okay? You need to stick together. She may be all you have one day, and you have to make sure your relationship isn't shitty."
"Dad, you're not-"
"Sometimes you have to lose things for the people you care about. You know, like, your heart, because someone else's heart isn't working very well. So you have to give it to them, even though it'll result in death. You're gonna listen to what I told you, right, Jase?" He stood up.
"You can't!"
"Jason, will you listen to what I said?"
"I..I..I w-will." Jason looked at his father with a desperate look. Yet that wouldn't stop him.
Giving his child one last glance, he walked away, ready for what was about to come. The doctors lead him into a room nearby. And that was the end.
