As we pulled into the small parking lot of Salty Espresso, my grandfather turned to me.
"I think we should keep this on the 'D.L.' From the kids at school" he tells me.
"I'm good with that but I kinda sorta told Duncan" I mention.
I pull out my phone.
Curly✨
Don't tell anyone please.
read"Got it" I say giving him my thumbs of approval.
"Cool" he chuckles, flashing me a thumbs up in return.
We hop out and walk in.
We see Jan sitting at a table.
"Hey" I say sitting down next to her and giving her a hug.
*time skip:)*
"Bye grandpa. And thanks. I had fun" I say hopping into the passenger seat of Janice's car as she gets in the drivers seat.
"Bye sweetheart. And, me too" he winks.
We wave to each other as our car pulls out of the driveway.
We reach the road and I place my two earbuds in my ears.
I press the big green button that says 'shuffle' at the top of my Spotify playlist.
Listening to music always makes me think.
'I guess my grandfather and i have a pretty strong bond. It would be weird not having him in my life. What if I get the job? Will i have to move away? Will i have to leave my grandpa? What'll happen if I don't see Duncan everyday? I'll die! I can't leave!' "I WON'T LEAVE!" I sob, not realizing that I yelled it out loud.
"What's wrong, babe?" Jan asks sympathetically, taking her eyes off the road for a few seconds.
"Ja-an, i-if I lea-eave I won't-t have D-Duncan or-or Grandpa! I-I c-can't leave. I won't leave!" I sob, ripping the earbuds out of my ears.
"I-I'll be in GeorgiA!" I sniffle.
"Don't worry baby, we'll figure it out" she rubs my back.
