Come hang out
'Cause you're outta your mind
You're working so damn hard
You forgot what you like

Scarlett's POV

I need to go to the bathroom. But this book is getting good! Fine, be like that. I will piss right here. I sigh and put down my phone. I mutter to Ethan, "I'm going to the bathroom."

After I finish my business, I see Ethan quickly put down my phone. I thought you locked it. I thought I did too.

"What were you doing with my phone?" I ask suspiciously.

"Nothing." He says innocently. "You locked it." He adds. What did that little shit do?

The only function left when it's locked is my camera, so I open my photos app. I bite back a grin when I see his funny selfies and ask, "You think you're cute, huh?"

"Only for you, Red." He says with a wink. When more people come in, I put away my phone, and Ethan and I start to serve the customers.

Ethan opens the car door for me and walks me to the door. "Thanks for driving me," I say, smiling.

"No problem." He says. He furrows his eyebrows and asks, "Uh do you have any plans tomorrow?" Why is he furrowing his eyebrows? He only does that when he's nervous.

"Nope," I say, shrugging. I smirk and ask, "Do you want to hang out?"

He chuckles and asks, "I was wondering if you wanted to go to the carnival with me?"

"That'd be fun!" I say excitedly.

"Ya?" He asks, less nervously. "We could even make it a group thing if everyone else is free." He adds.

My shoulders droop slightly, and I say, "Oh, um, yes! That's a great idea." Obviously, I wouldn't want to hang out with him alone. You're already falling, so you can't fight it. I'm not falling. I'm clearly standing right now.

"Give me your number so I can call you later," I say, grabbing my phone.

He freezes, and I nervously laugh. "If they agree, I can call you instead of using Snap. But if that's weird or makes you uncomfortable-"

Ethan recovers from freezing and shakes his head. "No, it's not that. I just can't believe you want my number. It's a dream come true. I'm feeling emotional." He says dramatically.

I sense his sarcasm and shove his arm. "I hate you," I mumble, watching him add his number to my phone.

"Sure you do." He says with a smug expression.

"Fuck you. I don't want to see you ever again." I say, stepping into my house. He flashes me a cute smile before I slam the door in his face.

After changing into my inside clothes, I decide to grace my family with my presence. "How was work?" My mom asks as she makes dinner.

"Good! Do we have any plans tomorrow?" I ask.

"No, your dad is on call, so we don't have anything planned. Why?" She asks.
