Scarlett's POV
"I think we should make our friend group feel awkward before we tell them," Ethan says, sending me a playful smile.
"Do you think they'll believe us?" I ask with a chuckle.
"Definitely. Especially with that beanie on." He says, pulling it down to my eyes.
"If you pull it down again, you're not getting a single kiss," I say seriously.
He looks around and pulls me into an empty hallway. Oh shit. "Like this?" He whispers, pulling my beanie.
"Etha-" I say but get cut off when he presses his lips against mine. God, I hate him. No, you don't.
When we pull apart, I glare at him. "I hate you," I say.
"No, you don't." He says, grinning.
"You're an idiot," I say, shaking my head.
"But I'm your idiot." He says, dragging me back into the commons area.
"We're not going to be one of those PDA couples at school," I say with a frown.
"I can respect that. No one will catch us making out underneath the stairs." He teases.
When we head to the cafeteria, Ethan and I purposely arrive separately. Our friends patiently wait for us to share any news, and Ethan says, "As you all know, we went on our date over the weekend."
"Unfortunately, it was mediocre at best," I say, shaking my head. Their shoulders sag, and Ethan almost breaks character.
"Someone was so boring I don't think I can tolerate this friendship." He says, cringing at me.
"Someone gave me so many icks I can't believe I gave them a chance," I say, rolling my eyes.
"Well... At least there's no more wondering what if." Layla says gently.
"And you guys know what's best. We won't push you two together anymore." Harper adds.
"Sorry, it didn't work out," Hunter says sympathetically.
"You guys suck," I say, wanting a more dramatic reaction.
"You guys should be devastated and crying," Ethan says, shaking his head in disappointment.
"Shut up," Layla says excitedly, the first to realize we're kidding.
"What?" Hunter asks, clearly lost.
"We're dating," I announce, resting my head on Ethan's shoulder.
He wraps his arm around my shoulder, and Harper excitedly squeals. "I'm so happy for you two!" She says.
Hunter sighs and says, "Thank god. You two are a perfect match. Would have been a missed opportunity."
"Pay up bitches." She sticks out her hand, and Harper and Hunter look confused.
