I'm going to tell you all about Justin Buchanan. As I've said he's the biggest jock in our whole school. Only at first glance he doesn't look like a jock. He always wears jeans and boots like a country person, but I guess that's what you get when you live out in the hicks. He also always wears long sleeve shirts. Ever since eighth grade he had started to always wear long sleeve shirts. I didn't get it. I guess he just liked them. No one really knows a lot about him. All I know is that he's a player. He can't have a girlfriend for more then a week. Guess he doesn't like getting close. He's really tall. He's already 6' and he's only a freshman. He always keeps his dark brown hair very short. I heard it gets curly when it gets long. He's also super buff and strong. He seems stupid but he's smart. He plays football.

Then there's me. I'm average height and average weight. Not really skinny but not fat. I always have my long brown with red and blonde highlights hair down. I'm super smart. Probably one of the smartest in my class. Everyone comes to me for help but I suck at helping people. I play baritone in band and am one of the best marchers. That's really all I do. Oh and my situation at home isn't the best. Last year my mom and dad were in a car accident. My mom died on impact. My dad was injured. He was in the hospital for two months, unconscious. I had to continue going to school. See all of my teachers giving me sad, sorry looks. I couldn't put up with it. I kept skipping class, not going to school at all. Then my dad woke up. He recovered. It was hard and took awhile but now, a year later he's fully recovered and works all the time. He's the owner and IT manager of a bank. He's never home. Losing my mom and almost losing my dad took a toll on me. I now cut. It started on accident. One day while I was shaving I knicked my leg. Ever since then I've liked seeing the blood and feeling the sweet release it brings. I cut on my wrists and on my stomach. I always wear jackets. Usually hoodies. And skinny jeans. I hide behind my long hair, my hood, and my headphones. The only person that knows I cut is Jessie. My other best friend, Katie, doesn't know. I don't think she could handle it.

Now that you know all about Justin and I let's get back to the story.

"Oh my God," Jessie says while we are walking to Taco Bell, our new hangout after school until her boyfriend gets off work. "You have to work with Justin."

"I know." I say as I glare at her. "I was there." I have to work with Mr. Perfect Justin Buchanan on a project about the bad things in our life. I had hoped he wasn't gonna be in any of my classes but, as my luck would have it, he's in every single class. It's horrible.

"When are you going to start working on it?" She asks.

"I don't know. Why?"

"Well I'm going over to Dylan's house tonight to work on it." Of course she got Dylan.

"Well in case you didn't notice, Justin never talks to me."

"So talk to him."

I glare at her and step up in line to order.

"Hi! what would you like to order today?" The way too peppy teenage cashier, who's name tag said Cindy, asked.

"Number 7, steak, with a soft taco and a large soda." I said having my order memorized. I get the same thing every time. A steak quesadilla with a soft taco and a large drink. "What are you getting? I'm paying." I said to Jessie behind me.

"I'll have two soft tacos and a medium soda." She said. She never eats a lot. That's why I pay.

"Okay! That will be $10.36." Cindy said.

I took out my wallet and grabbed 11 bucks. "Here. Keep the change."

"Oh thank you so much!" Cindy said.

"Why do you always do that?" Jessie asks referring to the change.

"What? Can I not be nice?"

"You aren't nice." She said playfully pushing me away.

I went over and filled my cup with Mountain Dew then sat at a booth facing the door.

"How are you so skinny?" Jessie asked when our food came.

"I'm not!" I said taking a big bite of my quesadilla.

We talked for another 10 minutes about Justin and the project until Jessie's boyfriend Josh showed up.
