You were laying on the couch watching TV when the storm started. The loud clap of thunder sent you three feet in the air. Your heartbeat was going a mile a minute and you couldn't stop shaking. Another clap of thunder filled the silence of the room. You bolted into your bedroom and under your blankets. Usually, Steve, your boyfriend of one year, was with you when it stormed so you would just cuddle into his side and you would be okay but today he was on a mission.

You took his pillow and dragged it into your blanket cave. Another loud crash of thunder and you were holding onto the pillow for dear life sobbing and whimpering. You heard the door to your room open and you froze. Steve wasn't supposed to be back for another two days. You jumped off of the bed and grabbed a knife that was on a nightstand and held it in front of you. The intruder held his hands up to surrender and came out of the darkness.

"Steve...?" You lowered the knife to your side.

"It's just me, calm down." He chuckled. He had the Captain America suit on and his shield was on his back. You set the knife back on the nightstand and turned the lamp on.

"I'm glad you're okay. Why are you home so early-" Lightning suddenly lit the room up and you followed your instinct to dive under the blankets again.

"Hey, hey, hey! What's wrong?" You felt the bed dip at your side. Whimpering was the only response he got. "Is it the thunder?" Steve's eyebrows furrowed. You slowly nodded and sniffled. "Hold on." He sat the shield down and took off his suit and put on clothes before entering your blanket cave. Your legs tangled together and he pulled you into his chest. "Better?" He asked after kissing your temple. You nodded, snuggling yourself into his arms and letting yourself fall asleep.
