Chapter 3

Haley's pov

I walked into the office building as confident as I could at a time like this. Everyone always starred at me when I walked by, because of my dad, but today everyone was looking at me with sympathy. I didn't need their looks though, all it was doing was making me uncomfortable knowing that soon their going to find out how Chloe died. I walked to my dad's office and smiled at his secretary.

"morning agent 62" she said, she usually had the biggest smile greeting people but today she just gave me a sad smile. I just slightly smiled at her and walked into my dad's office. When I walked in he didn't even acknowledge me. He kept his face into his computer.

"Morning daddy" I said in the cutest voice I could do. If I could get him to treat me as his daughter and not a secret agent right now, then maybe I won't get punished for the death of Chloe.

"Morning Haley" he said finally looking up at me. I could tell in his face and voice he was not his normal self today, but who would be when one of our own was killed? "Are you ok honey?"

I smiled at that, at a time like this I was happy he wasn't in boss mode he was in daddy mode. "Yeah I feel bad, but I know Chloe wouldn't want me to morn all day, she'd want me to go find the bastard who did this and kill him." I said. He looked at me, I could tell in his eyes he was trying to hold back the boss side of him.

"Could you explain what happened?" he said with as much sympathy he could. Usually when something like this happens he goes all ape shit on the person who got their partner killed. But I'm his daughter he has to play daddy first, or it would seem he didn't love me. I told him what happened and he looked very concerned after.

"Looks like we need to step up our combat skills!" he said making a note on his desk. He then looked back up to me and spoke again "I know you want to go find the guy who did this but first we need to get people to watch him to know where his going and what he's doing so you can pop up on one of his cases."

I just looked at him really confused, I didn't know where he was going with this. "Your one of my best agents and I don't need you spying on a man, which is why I'm getting you a new partner" he moved over to his microphone for the loud speaker and said the one thing I did not want him to say "agent 27 please come to my office"

Oh no. Not Derek! that guy is so self centered and so cocky he only thinks about himself, which is not someone I need as a partner, he's gonna get me killed with his stupidness. He thinks just because all the women at the office, except me of course, think he's hot, makes him the best of the best yeah sorry no "Why daddy? Why him?!"

He looked at me again knowing I was mad "because he needs a partner to show him what he isn't, a good agent. And I know you will put him in his place."

There was a knock at the door and a groan came out of my mouth that didn't mean to. "Don't be like that Haley" my dad said glaring at me. He opened the door and there stood my new 'partner' he looked at me and smirked but then turned back to my dad

"Hello sir" he said trying to be the suck up he is. My dad didn't even say anything and just walked back to his desk and took a seat. Derek walked into the room and stood next to me. I turned to him and he looked at me with a smirked like he always did to women in the office, I know that look. Disgusting. Luckily he looked away as my dad started taking again.

"Meet your new partner agent 27." Derek looked at me again I didn't even have to look at him To see him smirking. My dad spoke again turning Derek away again "now i know you are a new partnership and usually we wait a week while you train together, but your going into the field without that week." I was shocked we don't know how each other work. This is going to be a mess.

"Stanly Cooper is at it again, he's transporting illegal weapons into the states from Africa. I need you two to intercept his next transport and do what ever you can to stop him." My dad said. I was about to speak but Derek beat me to it.

"So if we were to get the chance to kill him then we could?" He said. I rolled my eyes

" Of course we can, unless he says we need them alive it's usually a kill mission" I said annoyed.

" Yes now you leave tonight so go get ready" my dad said. I immediately left my dad's office trying to get away from Derek but I soon heard fast footsteps and there Derek was right beside me.

"So I think we should.." I cut him off "ok listen here, you have barely any experience so we do what I say until I know you won't screw this up, got it!" I said. He looked at me and just smirked

"Oh I your wrong i have loads of experience" he said. I groaned and just walked away. That guy was a pig.
