"Hey," leaning on the door frame of her brother's room Paromita looked at Akash with a quizzical expression. Akash was sitting on the bin bag near the window. The open laptop on his lap had put on some official charts with was constant in the last one hour while the person in front of it had his mind everywhere but on it.
Every time Akash looked at the screen he had the instant urge of putting Narcos back on. But there was this constant raging obstinacy of adjuration which ket his neck straight and eyes trained on the chart. But mind had its own will and the ire of stubbornness was trying to tame it. As the consequence, the nerve on his temple kept on throbbing making the very painful. Keeping that place resting on his fingers as he was rubbing it before, Akash looked up at his sister with a disinterested face.
"Heard you men had quite the tiff before! Again!" Strolling in the room Paromita sat on the edge of Akash's bed. Humour sparkled in her orbs. Looking at her with a serious face Akash heaved a sigh.
"The man just doesn't understand! What he thinks okay only that should be done, other people knows shit!"
"Okay! Calm down... you could make him understand-"
"You think I didn't try?" Asked Akash looking at his elder sister. "I told him, he is getting old with a heart problem and has the duty, maa have knee problems, you have emergencies, and I am not Ironman that I can take it all on my shoulder!" Nose of him flared up. "I told him to hire a planner so that it would be organised and we can enjoy too-" rapidly Akash's breath picked up a quick pace and his face became redder along the increasing pitch of his voice. Making a worried face Paromita waived her hands up and down asking her brother to lower his pitch and calm down. To that, his aggression only jumped to a higher rank, "No! Why will I! There is nothing wrong in what I am saying... it is sensible!"
"Yes! But-"
"There is nothing reasonable in that old man!"
"Hey, he is our father you are talking about!" Glared Paromita speaking in a warning tone and to that Akash made an annoying face. In a lower tone, she then proceeded to say, "I know you don't agree with his views and visa versa but this is my wedding and you two have to meet in a negotiation."
"Which will be done by me agreeing to his words! Like always!" A sad smirk looped on his face.
"Bhaiyu!" She sighed and slowly took his hands in her.
"He doesn't just understand me neither he tries to! Never have never will!"
"Baba loves you! He just doesn't know how to show it!"
"Oh, he knows how to' when it comes to you!" Throwing Paromita an oblique look Akash made a face and she couldn't but chuckle lightly.***
Looking at her reflection at the mirror a satisfied smirk looped on Ipshita full lips that had a matt colour of lip colour on it. Rubbing her hands over her high waisted jeans on her thigh to smoothen it she walked out of her room. The living room scene made her roll her eyes. Her parents were yet on the subject of the wedding in Delhi. Her father had dismissed the topic out of the window putting up the excuse of Ipshita's job interviews, but pouring water down to it, the interview got rescheduled way before the date of the ceremony, to this day and Ipshita secured a possibility of having the position. Hence there was nothing on earth to stop Tuli from going. it was her best of friends' child's marriage and she was resolute about this.
"Common even Arun is going!" Tuli argued.
"Yes because they are in touch. Tuli I don't even remember how Anindya looks like. And I am sure it's a fact for both of us." Countered her husband. "The invite is just a formality..."Hearing till now and making a wide 'oh god not again!' eyes, Ipshita moved quickly towards the door. She would not like to catch in between this banter. Waving a quick 'bye' she walked out in the street, towards the awaiting cab to the arms of Abhijit who was waiting in front of Ipshita's favourite club in town.
"My baby girl is so talented. Congratulations!" Snaking his arm around Ipshita Abhijit planted a peck on her lips making her smile widely.
"But I haven't got the jot yet!" She pouted walking with his hand in her hand, towards the entrance of the club.
"Oh, you definitely will love! Have you not met you?" He argued making her giggle. Curling her toe she puckered her lips and touched his quickly before the jumping loud music and the rest of their gang of friends surrounded them.***
A smirk kept on playing on Tuli's lips as she sat on the couch having a book in her hand. Once again she had won over Shuvro. God! The man was stubborn like a mole! But the fact that when it comes to her he had nothing else but to melt like an ice cream under the touch of warm milk.
Hearing the sound of the doorbell, she, putting down the book on the coffee table head towards the door still having that winning smirk on. And that smirk was the first thing too as Ipshita walked inside the house having her boyfriend left at the doorstep.
She knew that smirk too well. Hence having suspicious eyes on her mother and trying to figure out the matter she went on to grab a bottle of water.
"Oh hi!" On seeing Abhijit standing at the doorstep Tuli smiled. "Abhi, come inside!"
"No aunty I should leave, I just came to drop Ipu." He shrugged.
"Oh come on, you must come inside. Ipu's father has gone out to fetch some of my favourite pie, you must have some." Insistently dragging Abhijit in the house, Tuli said while shutting the doors.
"Dady went to the Magpie? It's ten o'clock!" Ipshita furrowed brows feeling odd about a man who returned home within seven p.m. and planted himself inside the house, refusing to leave the house until the next sunrise - going out at such hour in the night. What must happened!
"Well, he brought that on to himself!" Surging simply Tuli again turned to Abhijit. She liked this guy for her daughter. Abhijit was a fine guy from a cultural family and very close to the RoyChoudhurys. His parents both were professors of two of the finest universities of the city and Abhijit was also established in a firm as a corporate lawyer. "Abhijit, we must have your parents over for dinner someday soon again! Your mother called that day and we were just discussing that." Tuli beamed smiling at Abhijit's delighted face.
"Oh, certainly aunty. Even dad was talking about your special crab recipe and how you do magic with them." With a bright smile on his face, Abhijit explained politely.
"Oh really?" Tuli laughed at the poised flattery of compliment.
Two of them indulged in conversation lost noticing the girl gulping down a glass of water down her throat while rolling her eyes at the perfectness of the possible duo of inlaws in front of her.
"Oh, we must meet some weekend soon. Well, not this weekend though as we will be attending this wedding of this daughter of my friends, so-" Tuli shrugged.
"You are going to Delhi? Ipshita why didn't you tell me?"
"Wait baba agreed?"
Two questions consecutively got fired at the end of Tuli's declaration. She simply smirked.
"That's because I didn't know." Snapping at her boyfriend quickly Ipshita turned to her mother, "How?"
"Magic!" The mother replied...So this was the update. I hope you liked it. Now VOTE! VOTE! VOTE! and comment...
