Chapter six

"We need to go Aria we can't keep putting this off." Luca was on the verge of snapping as he paced back and forth in our run down hotel room. That was so disgusting I performed a spell to be rid of bugs and other creepy crawlies. That left me unconscious for two days. Which brings us to now where Luca and I have been arguing about him going to find Costella. I still had the feeling of foreboding that was telling me to forget about that whole deal. I saw a flicker and my eyes were drawn to it. soon I realized it was Blake trying to show himself. "Get out now!" I jumped and covered my ears. Cowering back into my pillows. Luca peeked out the window and cursed under his breath. He quickly made it over to me and lifted me up out of bed. The sudden movement had me wrapping my arms around his shoulders and holding tightly. "They found us we need to leave now. My throat closed with fear and I grabbed onto him tighter. He hurried to the bathroom and put me down long enough to shove open the window. He picked me up again and jumped out the window not even giving me enough time to settle. He landed on both feet gracefully and began running. I buried my head into the side of his neck closing my eyes as tight as I could. Because the lights that were flying by were making me sick to my stomach. When he did slow down I could hear the howls. "Shit" I knew exactly what he was thinking I knew what was tracking us. I couldn't say my fear didn't turn to stark terror. I remember seeing the half werewolf half vampire monstrosities at the lab. They had tried splicing the two beings together but they always failed miserably. Leaving them to be monstrosities that couldn't even remember what they were. "Luca what do we do?" I could hear my own terror in my voice as I watched over his shoulder. Soon the small alley we in was filled with ten of the creatures. Some had jumped on the walls while others blocked the entrance. "Luca" I felt him squeeze my leg in comfort but all it did was scare me more. He helped me off his back before stepping away from me. I reached out to grab him but he turned with a small smirk. "It'll be okay just stay back and don't use your magic." His voice became forceful about my magic and all I could do was nod. As soon as Luca made a move all the creatures began moving. Howling and growling so loud I crouched down covering my ears. The sound of it making my head ache. I watched from my position as Luca tried fighting them off. He threw one only to have another take its place. One landed in front of me and I screamed in fright seeing how twisted it was with broken bones. I quickly looked up hoping to see Luca standing there victorious. What I did see made my stomach drop and my chest seize. More where at the end of alley and Luca stood swaying from exhaustion and maybe blood loss. When they all stormed forward I acted without thought. I held out my hand and threw out a barrier. That knocked back both Luca and the creatures.  As my breathing became labored I could feel my magic waver. I pushed more and soon I felt something wet drip down my face. I reached up and came back with blood. I stared at my hand for a long moment. Until I heard a faint crack my eyes widened as the creature that landed in front of me stood. Its bones snapping and cracking and its walk jerky and uneven. I dropped my hand and watched as the thing ran at Luca. I tried standing but fell back too weak to do anything. It jumped and sailed over him landing on top of one of its own. Ripping and tearing causing loud cries of pain. Luca didn't even miss a thing. He went back to fighting putting his last bit into it. Soon my vision was going in and out. Black fading into my vision and my body going numb. It wasn't until Luca was in front me his hand on my cheeks that I even noticed he was yelling for me to focus on him. I kept blinking my eyes trying to rid the edge of blackness. "Aria listen to me you are not allowed to do this!" I wanted to speak I wanted to say something but I couldn't. I tried moving my arms but failed and I could feel tears falling and mixing with the blood that was running from my nose. Luca kept wiping my face a look of pure worry on his. Yet I could do nothing to comfort him. Blake flickered into view and the look on his face about broke me. He was yelling behind Luca but I was to weak to hear anything. I watched as a women came up behind Luca. In a last-ditch effort, I cast taking my last bit of energy. I could feel myself be swallowed by the blackness and no amount of fighting could stop me.
