Caleb's POV:
My eyes fluttered open and squinted at the room's light. "Wake up, it's four." A voice said at my door. I grumbled and yawned. Already? "Thank you Mrs Curtis." I mumbled. As I heard the clicking of heals fade out I looked over my shoulder.
Abigail was softly snoozing in her cot, completely oblivious that it was four in the morning. I smiled at my little sister. I hopped out of my cot and stretched, walking towards our shared dresser.
After I finished combing my hair I heard an adorable yawn from the cot behind me. I smiled, "Morning Abi." I said. "Hmm, mornin' Cay..." Her groggy response was. I heard her bed shift.
About ten seconds later she was standing up and sleepily rubbing her eye. "Cay I'm tired." I nodded and crouched down to her hight. "I know. But guess what today is?" I smiled as her eyes lit up.
"Adoption Day?" She asked hopefully. I nodded and smiled wider. We haven't gotten adopted yet but she keeps her hopes up, people usually only want one of us but we insist on taking the other. It's a package deal with us.
She started to cheer and hop around the room. I chuckled, "Go get dressed Abi." I told her. "Mkay!" She bounced towards the dresser. I laughed, "I'll be back." I told her and headed out the room.

"Caleb! Hurry up!" Abigail squeaked as she ran to the main room. I trailed not that far behind her. "I'm coming Abigail." I said. As I walked into the main room Abigail was already hopping on the huge couch that lay in the middle of the room.
I sat next to Abigail as Mrs Curtis walked in. "Good morning everyone." She said in the same monotone voice as before. She was the home owner and main caregiver. She wasn't very nice either. Everyone always preferred Evan, one of the other caregivers.
Evan soon scrambled in and stood next to Mrs Curtis. He smiled and waved at us. "Morning! I'm sure you all know what today is, right?" There were squeals and groans. Soon after that everyone started cleaning.
The older children, eight to twelve, cleaned the kitchen and main room as the younger children, five to seven, folded sheets and clothing.
The youngest kids, who were mostly two to four, sat out and played.
The teens, however, we cooked, ironed, washed, swept, and even bathed the kids.
I was just finishing cooking breakfast for everyone, as it was my chore. Everyone gathered around the huge tables as I passed out scrambled eggs to about thirty children. "Cay can I get extra? Pleeeeaaaase?" Abi pleaded.
"No Abi, that wouldn't be fair to everyone else." I stated. She pouted and walked away with her plate. I chuckled and made my own plate of scrambled eggs.
When I walked over to one of the tables and sat down next to Abi. She was already halfway done with her plate. "Slow down, I don't want you to choke." I warned. She giggled. "Mkay." I smiled, satisfied with her answer.
I finished my plate of food, Abi was already done. I grabbed her plate and stacked it on top of mine before placing them in the sink. Abi ran off to play I presume. "Caleb! I need you for a second." I heard Evan call. "Coming Evan."
I swayed into the main room and saw Evan scurrying to pick up abandoned toys left on the floor. He looked up and smiled at me. "Caleb, can you gather all the children in here? We're about to open for Adoption Day." I nodded. He looked thankful towards me the ran into Mrs Curtis' office.
I chuckled as I walked into the play area where most of the kids were. "Alright. Everyone in the main room, time to open!" I shouted over the children. Many of the kids cheered as they emptied out of the room.
When the room was completely empty I headed towards the bedrooms. "Come on! Everyone out, time to open!" The teenagers that were in their rooms groaned. "Come on guys, hey, I don't want to do this either." I stated.
When I returned to the main room there was a couple already here. I sighed. Let's get this over with.

About four couples came in and one lone person but no one took us. A few couples wanted Abi but they didn't take her cause she insisted them take me as well. I sighed, getting ready to get up and haul sleeping Abigail to our room.
When I stood someone tapped my shoulder. I spun around to see two semi-tall men, probably in their early twenties, holding hands. One was tannish and smiling wide while the other was pale, had purple hair, and had a nervous smile plastered on his face.
"Hello?" I asked hesitantly. "Hello, young man." The tan man said with a grin. "I'm Roman, and this man here is Virgil." The purple haired man, introduced as Virgil, waved at me.
I sat down next to snoozing Abigail. "Hi. I'm Caleb, this is Abigail." I pointed towards her. "That's your sister?" Roman asked. I nodded, smiling fondly at her calm state.
"So Caleb, what do you like?" Roman questioned. I shruged. "I like bands." Virgil seemed to perk up. "What kind?" He asked. Right before I answered Abigail shifted. "Hmm, Cay what time is it?" She yawned.
She sat up, her eyes half-lidded and tired. When she saw we had company, she jumped up, seeming full awake now. "Hi! I'm Abigail!" She smiled. Virgil chuckled, mumbling something about someone named Patton.
~lazy time skip~
After our interview Roman and Virgil left towards Mrs Curtis' office. I bit my lip, no one's ever spent that much time on us. Abi bounced in place, muttering 'I hope they pick us' over and over.
To be honest, I wanted it too. They were the only ones that seemed nice and not snobby rich people. When they emerged from the office they had huge smiles on their faces. "Well, Caleb, Abigail, want to be adopted?"
