Caleb's POV:
Abigail hid behind my leg as Virgil took out his keys and opened the door to their- our house.
Abi was always shy when meeting a number of people at the same time, once a whole family came to the orphanage and Abi hid behind the sofa for the whole thing.
Once the door was open Roman called out, "We're home!" He smiled. Abi held onto my clothes tighter. I smiled sadly and picked her up, she dug her head in the crook of my neck.
"Be right down!" A bubbly, giddy voice spoke. I lifted an eyebrow. "How many people live here?" I questioned.
Virgil chuckled, "Just two more people. Patton and Logan, you'll love 'em." I just nodded and walked into the house hesitantly. I sat on the couch, Abi still laying on my chest but looser.
Suddenly, I heard two sets of footsteps on the stairs. Next thing I know two people stood at the bottom of the stairs.
One had a blue shirt and a cardigan draped around his shoulders, the other had a black shirt and a striped tie.
The blue one looked at us and smiled widely. The one with the tie looked confused. "Patton, Logan, this is Caleb and Abigail!" Roman smiled.
The blue one, Patton, waved at us. "Hi! I'm Patton, guess I'm your uncle now too!" He giggled. He reminds me of my little sister. I smiled and waved back.
The one with the tie, Logan, smiled slightly. "Salutations, I am Logan, nice to meet you. I assume I, too, am now your uncle." Wow, smart much? I waved at him as well.
"Hey, I'm Caleb, this is Abigail." Abi looked up and smiled. I guess she thought there would be more people. "Hi." She waved.
Patton squeaked, I think. "Awwe you're so cute!" Abi giggled and hopped off my lap. "Thank you, Mister."
Patton chuckled, "My name's Patton silly, Mister is too formal. This one's Logan." He laughed as Logan rolled his eyes.
"Hello, tiny one," Logan said, Abi huffed.
"I'm not that tiny, see!" She ran up to Virgil and compared heights. "I'm almost up to his chest!" Virgil laughed and pat her head.
Patton giggled. "I have some coloring books upstairs, wanna color?" Abi gasped.
"Would I?! Cay, can I go?!" I chuckled and nodded. She cheered and booked up the stairs, Patton by her side, giggling just as much as her.
I shook my head fondly. Logan sighed and chuckled. "Can't believe I married that man, but I don't regret it one bit." He smiled.
I chuckled a bit, watching the stairs cautiously. I turned to my new parents, "Uh, where will we be sleeping?" Virgil bit his lip.
"We uh, we only have one room for you guys?" He said, sounding like a question at the end. I just smiled.
"That's fine, I'd rather us sharing anyway." Virgil smiled as Roman beamed.
"Come on! First, we'll show you guys around, then, DISNEY MARATHON!!" Roman yelled, making my finch at first but I smiled nonetheless.
~time skip brought to you by Disney~
Abi was asleep on my lap, tuckered out from watching Disney and eating snacks. She really liked the movie Mulan, she hadn't looked away from the screen at all when the movie was on.
My favorite had to be Princess and The Frog though. I felt myself start to drift off as I pulled the blanket on us, only to be awakened by Abi screaming.
I shook her awake, trying to stop her nightmare. Her eyes shot open, her pupils shrinking in fear. She clung to me and cried, I rubbed her back soothingly.
"Sh, It's okay, I'm here." She hiccuped as she tried to speak, I shushed her and waited until she could actually talk.
"Th-There was a m-monster ch-chasing us a-and it g-grabbed you and dr-dragged you aw-way." She whimpered after she finished, I kissed her head.
"I'm right here Abi, I'm okay." She nodded against my chest, right after she did Virgil bursts in with disheveled hair and no makeup on his face.
"Are you guys okay?" He breathed, heaving from running I'm guessing. Abi whimpered again and reached for Virgil. He took her and rubbed her head as he hummed a soft tune.
"She asked me, 'Son when I grow old,
Will you buy me a house of gold?
And when your father turns to stone,
Will you take care of me?'"
Abi's breath started to slow as she calmed down.
"I will make you,
Queen of everything you see,
I'll put you on the map,
I'll cure you of disease."
Abi was now asleep on his chest, I smiled at Virgil. "Thank you." I thanked.
He grinned at me and shook his head, "No problem." He set Abi on the bed we were sitting on.
He waved at me and walked towards the door, "Wait!" I called out, he turned around. I bit my lip, should I?
I decided against it as I shook my head. Virgil gave me one last grin before leaving, "Goodnight Caleb."
I stared at the closed door and smiled slightly, "Night, Dad..."
