~Emma's POV~

I rushed around my room to get dressed as I remembered that Sam told me to come to his house so we could go to the lake party. After I tied my boots, I sprung to my feet and walked out of my room before going downstairs and walking towards the front door. Opening the door, I walked outside and locked the door. I shoved my hands in my pockets and started walking towards Sam's house. I looked up when I heard Ron talking to Sam.

"Aww, Sam.." Mr. Witwicky groaned.

"What?" Sam asked in confusion.

"I do not like footprints on my grass."

"What foot... There's no footprints." Sam exclaimed in slight annoyance.

"That's why I built my path. So why don't you go from my grass onto my path, okay?" His dad told him as he ignored Sam's comment.

I giggled and leaned against Bee's passenger side door before crossing my arms with an amused look.

"It's family grass, dad."

"Well, when you own your own grass, you'll understand." Mr. Witwicky told him before getting back to work on his path.

"This... I can't do it anymore." Sam muttered walking up to Mrs. Witwicky. "You're putting girl jewellery on a boy dog." He motioned to the dog who was indeed wearing girl jewellery. I chuckled and shook my head.

'This family is something else.' I mused and looked up in time to see Sam turn towards me. He smiled when he saw me and walked up.

"Ready to go?" I asked and he nodded before walking over to the driver's side door. Sam slid into the seat as I climbed into the backseat, the door closing behind me.

"I want you home at eleven!" Mrs. Witwicky shouted and he sighed.

"Yeah, all right."

"Eleven!" His dad repeated.

"Please, for the love of God, drive safely!" Mrs. Witwicky said as Sam put the key in the ignition. "Seatbelts on!" She said as he turned on the car, kicking up a huge cloud of smoke and dust.

After picking up Miles, we headed over to the lake party.

"Dude, are you sure we're invited to this party?" Miles asked as Sam parked the car.

"Of course, Miles. It's a lake. Public property." Sam stated and we got out of the car.

"Oh, my God. Oh, my God, dude, Mikaela's here." Sam freaked and I smiled in amusement. "Just don't do anything weird, all right?"

"I'm good, right?" Sam questioned.

"Yeah, you're good." Miles answered.

"Don't worry, Sam." I told him.

"Okay." He said and Miles walked up to a tree before beginning to climb it.

'Oh, dear God.' I sighed and walked up next to Sam.

"Hey, bro. That car. It's nice. Hey. So, what are you doing here?" The annoying jock, otherwise known as Trent, asked. I'll honestly never understand why Mikaela liked him.

"We're here to climb this tree." Sam answered lamely and I raised an eyebrow at him.

'Really Sam? Is that the best excuse you can come up with?' I wondered.

"I see that. It looks... It looks fun."

"Yeah." I muttered.

"You know, I thought I recognized you." Trent said. "You tried out for the football team last year, right?"

"Oh, no, no that... No. That wasn't like a real tryout." Sam told him. "I was researching a book I was writing."

"Yeah? What's it about? Sucking at sports?" Trent smirked and I scowled.

"No, it's about the link between brain damage and football." Sam answered. "No, it's a good book. Your friends would love it. Ya know. It's got mazes in it, ya know, little coloring areas, sections, pop-up pictures. It's a lot of fun."

By the time Sam had finished talking, I had found myself trying to hide my grin, but it vanished and my eyes narrowed as Trent stepped forward.

"That's funny."

"Okay, okay, you know what? Stop." Mikaela said as she placed a hand on Trent's chest. "Hey, how about you let me drive?" Mikaela asked, looking at Trent with a smile. Trent didn't like the idea of 'his bunny' driving his car, so he said no.

'Oh! Bad move there, Trent.' I thought as watched her get mad and break up with him before she started to walk away. Sam didn't seem to know what to do.

"Drive her home." I insisted as I climbed into the backseat and Bee turned on his radio telling him the same thing.

"I am going to take her home." Sam mumbled as I put on my headphones.

"Sam, I'm going to sleep when Mikaela gets in the car, so don't mind me. I'll be listening to music." I told him while looking through my playlist as he argued with Miles. As I was listening to music, I began to doze off while Sam drove to Mikaela. I smiled slightly when I felt the seatbelt tightened a little around me before I fell asleep.
