You sat on the wet ground by the cliffside, looking out over the ocean. You knew there was life down there in the water, but it felt as if you and San were the only living things in existence.

The rain poured down from the darkened sky, and lightning forked through the air like blades, but neither one of you was afraid. Nor were you shying away from the rain. Instead, you let it soak your hair and clothes and let it drip down your faces. It was cold, but San's present made you feel warm on the inside. His hand was placed over yours on the soaked ground, which had no choice but to endure the rain's endless beating.

You sat in silence for a long time, looking down at the raging waves. It roared and crashed against the cliff, but the sound of the rain drowned it out for the most part. Neither one of you was afraid. You looked at the electricity charging through the sky, like a bull being released from its hutch. You heard the loud rumble of thunder not even a second afterward, and it hurt your ears. But neither of you was afraid.

"It's strangely beautiful, isn't it?" You asked San as you looked up at the sky.
San turned his head to look and stare at your side profile.

"It is." He agreed quietly but didn't avert his gaze. "You are, too."
You giggled and looked at him with a smile. You stared at each other for a split second, before you both leaned in and shared a short, yet sweet kiss. It would've been more of a peck, but your lips couldn't help but linger over his after you pulled away. Your noses were still almost touching.

"I love you, you know that right?" He asked, and you saw his brown eyes glittering like the water would've glittered if it could see the moon.

Lightning struck again, and the light illuminated your faces for a moment.

"I know, San, I know. I love you too." You said, your voice shaky as you felt yourself tearing up.

He smiled and looked away, and it was your turn to look at his side profile. It was exactly the way you remembered it, but still, it felt off. His whole presence felt off.

"It is a beautiful place. But I always knew you had a beautiful mind. It's just that, now that I'm really seeing it for the first time... It's more beautiful than I had ever imagined."

Tears fell from your eyes as he spoke, the salty teardrops mixing with the pure droplets of water plummeting from the sky. You felt a sting in your chest, and suddenly, lightning struck the ground beside you. You didn't flinch.

"But I shouldn't be here. This might be bad for you. (Y/N), you have to move on from me." His voice was quiet and strained, and he never moved to look at you. He swallowed, with some difficulty, and you thought he was crying too. You couldn't tell.

"I know you loved me very much, and that if you move on you'd feel as if you were betraying me. But you're not. You need to be happy."

Sobs racked through your body as you clung onto his hand.

"I'm happy here, with you." You choked out as the lightning grew more intense. Another strike hit the ground behind you, leaving a big mark. The thunder was deafening, like a bomb going off. Yet, you didn't flinch, only moved closer to hug San. He was starting to get colder.

"Then let's stay here for a little longer. But promise me that after you wake up, I won't ever see this place again."

You said nothing, but straddled him and buried your face in the crook of his neck. Your arms were thrown over his shoulders, and he felt your cold and wet face pressed against his bare skin.

"Promise me, Sunny."

You finally gave in, albeit with an incredibly pained voice, the words struggling to pass through your lips.

"I promise, Sanshine."

He laid a hand on your neck and gently pulled you back to give you a passionate kiss. Every time you pulled back, it only took you a short time to find his lips once more. The lightning strikes grew more frequent, the noise of thunder rumbled over you every passing second. Neither one of you flinched.
The water crashed against the cliffside, slowly tearing down and swallowing pieces of it. The noise of thunder and the screaming waves fought for dominance, but still, neither of you flinched.

You parted from the kiss and rested your forehead against his as you tried to catch your breath. You looked into his chocolate-colored eyes one last time.

"I love you, San."
"I love you too, (Y/N), be happy."

Your eyes flew open, and you stared at the cup of tea in your hand for a few moments. The first thing you realized was how much your jaw was hurting as if you had been clenching it for the last thirty minutes. Then, you realized that your eyes were burning slightly, and then you realized that you were crying.

You hesitantly looked around, scared of what you might see. You were in your living room, small but cozy, sitting in the dark brown, leather armchair by the window. Your eye caught onto something. Something had changed in your small but cozy living room.

On top of a shelf was a small black urn with white butterflies etched into it.

The tears that had stopped rolling down your cheeks only a few minutes ago suddenly came back to you like a flood. You knew what was in that urn. It was the one person you loved the most.

Your eyes snapped away from it as if it was the most gruesome thing you had ever seen, and you looked out the window. The rain was beating down on the ground, and lightning forked through the sky. The rumbling of thunder was instant and ear-splitting.

This time, you cowered in your chair at the sound of it.

Next: Imagine - Seonghwa

~ 🌼 ~

I'm kinda proud of this imagine, the setting is kind of like what goes on in my head. I'm very imaginative and I can easily insert myself into places I created, it's quite fascinating.
That being said, it was easier to write this imagine than normal, since I imagine the setting pretty often. It's nothing to be concerned about though.

I'm sorry for putting y'all through feels, idk why but I feel like writing sad things, have felt that for a while.
The next ones will most likely be angsty too whoops
