The second you opened your eyes, you saw Hongjoong's sleeping face right in front of you.
'Weird.' You thought. 'He's usually up before me.'
You lifted your head to see the red numbers on your alarm clock. It was only 4 am in the morning. Why would you wake up so early?
Suddenly you realized how dry your throat was and turned around to get some water, but saw that your glass was empty. Guess you had to go refill. You sighed and carefully got out of bed. Looking around the room, it was almost completely dark besides the line of moonlight escaping through the curtains. You felt strange, not like you were ill, but you got a strange feeling in your chest. It pulsed from your heart throughout your entire body. It was the sentimentality one felt most when the sun went down, the desire to reminisce about past events, or the desire to take a quiet walk or drink a cup of tea by the window in silence.
You closed your eyes for a second before focusing on the task at hand and walking to the kitchen. Your kitchen and living room weren't seperated by any walls, so you looked around the large room after you had gulped down the drink. It was probably the best water you had ever drank, that's how dry your throat had been.
You turned back around and laid your glass on the sink. As you moved to flick off the lights, you noticed just how quiet it was both in and outside and stopped your actions.
You turned and looked around the room again, before your eyes landed on one of the windows. Between the curtains you could look outside, and what you saw made your heart skip a beat. You rushed to the window and drew the curtains back. You were instantly filled with happiness at the sight of a layer of untouched white snow carpeting the ground outside. And it was still snowing.
Thinking your pajamas were probably warm enough, you immediately rushed out into the hall to put on your rain boots, a thick coat, a beanie and gloves. You considered waking up Hongjoong, but decided against it since he had had a long day at work.
You opened the door and were met with freezing air, which made you reconsider going out, but you laughed at your own silliness and stepped outside, stuffing the key in your pocket in case the door slammed shut. You left the door separating the hallway from the rest of the house closed.
You heard the snow crunch under your feet as you took a few steps forward. When you stood still, you realized why you felt it was so strangely quiet. The thick layer of snow on every flat surface dimmed quite a bit of the noise- not that there was much noise to begin with.
Meanwhile, Hongjoong twisted and turned in the sheets as a drop of sweat rolled down his forehead. Then, his eyes shot open, and he took a deep gulping breath as if he had been choking in his sleep. Of course, it was only a nightmare.
He looked for you, and when he couldn't find you in the bed, fear set in. He got out of bed immediately and stumbled around the house, checking every room for you. When you were nowhere to be found, he feared that his dream had come true. He noticed the lights in the main room to be on, a glass sitting lonely in the sink, and nervously scanned the room for any trace of you. Right before he started fully panicking, he heard your laughter coming from outside. His worries were gone immediately and he rushed to the front door.
You twirled around in a white winter wonderland with joyous laughter, one of the biggest smiles he had ever seen on your face. Your cheeks were red, and small white specks of white clung to your hair and eyelashes. Suddenly, you dropped down on your back and made a snow angel.
Hongjoong watched you and felt his heart swell with love. He didn't know what he did to deserve such an amazing significant other.
He joined you after some time, surprising you by suddenly picking you up by your waist and spinning you around. When he put you down, you turned to face him and playfully slapped his chest."You scared me!" You whined. "Why are you up anyway? You should be sleeping mister."
Hongjoong grinned and shook his head.
"I should he asking you the same thing."
"Well I didn't have to work from 9 am to 10 pm. You need to rest."
He stubbornly shook his head against and pulled you closer.
"Not before I get to pelt you with some snowballs." He grinned and then you quickly moved away from each other, trying to form a snowball as fast as you can to throw at each other. You were faster and hit him on the shoulder, and managed to dodge his.
You went back and forth for a while until you suddenly hit him square in the face, making him stumble back."Oh shit! I'm sorry babe!" You couldn't help but laugh at his shocked expression.
"You think it's funny huh?"
Before you knew it he had thrown you over his shoulder. You hit his back as he took you back inside. He kicked the door shut behind him and set you down in the hall."We can continue to play in the snow tomorrow, but for now, you're gonna have to make it up to me for that babygirl."
You blushed at the nickname and knew exactly what he was talking about. And honestly, after being in the cold for so long, you kind of needed someone to warm you back up.Let's just say neither of you slept that night.
