I ran down the side walk of the busy road. The cars rushed by me playing that good old rock n’ roll. I smiled and turned behind me.

“Danny! Hurry up! My old man has some new things in the shop!” He wheezed and started to slow down. Danny was my best pal. He was a Greaser and you could tell. His black hair was always combed back, a cigarette was always tucked behind his ear, and he always have his comb in his front pocket and a switchblade in the back.

“Emma, god damn it! You know I can’t run far.” I stopped and waited for him.

“Well maybe if you cut back on all those cigarettes you could actually breathe through those good for nothing lungs.”

“Don’t flip a wig Emma.” He came up to me and started tickling me.

“Ah! Danny stop---it!” I laughed and started to run away and into my dad’s shop.

“Hey that’s no fair!” Danny ran after me but couldn’t catch up till I ran to the front desk. My dad looked up when he heard panting. His eyes softened and a big smile formed on his face. He combed his hands through his thick brown hair and said,

“Now Emma, don’t you remember what I told you about running to the shop? You’re going to end up killing poor old Danny.”

“Well if he stopped smokin’ maybe he’d be in better shape.” I smirked and gave my old man a kiss on the cheek.

“So Archie, where’s all that new stuff your daughters been rambling on about?” Danny set his elbow on the counter and smirked a little. “You know how women get around new things.” He smiled and they both laughed. My lips made an “o” shape and I gasped.

“Danny’s just mad that I made him run all the way here.”  I flipped the bangs of my strawberry blond hair out of my face and took a seat at the counter. My dad laughed and then turned to grab a book off of the shelf.

“Sorry kiddo’s, the new stuff is in our attic until next Monday. I got make sure everything is in tip top shape.” He reached into his pocket and pulled out a dollar. “But here, I’ll give you kids some money to go get a milkshake and maybe you can go see a movie. I know you have money saved up Emmaline.” I grabbed the bill and got off my seat and gave my dad another kiss on the cheek.

“Thank you daddy. Can we maybe go check out the stuff tonight?” I made my best puppy dog eyes. No one could resist my deep ocean blue eyes framed with long black eyelashes. He itched his head.

“Now darlin’ I don’t-“

“Please dad I’ll leave everything where I found it!” He sighed and shoved his hands in his pockets.

“Fine. Now get! Or I’ll take that dollar back.”  I smiled and grabbed Danny as I rushed out the door.

“You’re such a daddy’s girl.” Danny said walking next to me pulling a cigarette from behind his ear. I rolled my eyes and pulled on a string of my hair.
