When the plane was loaded again and it was ready for the next trip, the plane crew distributed clementines to the passengers. The luggage rooms weren't full of bags like the passengers thought, but would they find out when landing at their destination that a whole lot of clementine boxes shared that flight with them. Hopefully, the passengers would be convinced by the economist's theories like the plane crew. 

The theory itself was rather logical. When water on the earth's surface evaporates and condensed into clouds that surround the aeroplane, the pressure on the tail would decrease as the cloud would collect below the tail. Because of octagonal windows, the pressure would cause extreme tiredness among passengers as a vortex would form outside. Those who would not fall asleep would be hypnotized and cause all sorts of problems. The only way to prevent this is excessive consumption of citrus fruits.

Þegar búið á var að ferja flugvélina og hún tilbúin í næstu flugferð, útbýtti áhöfnin mandarínum til farþega. Öll farangurshólf voru ekki full af töskum eins og farþegar héldu, heldur myndu þau uppgötva við lendingu á áfangastað að í för með voru bara fjöldinn allur af mandarínukössum. Vonandi myndu farþegar sannfærast af kenningu hagfræðingsins líkt og áhöfnin. 

Kenningin var í sjálfusér þokkalega rökrétt. Þegar vatn á yfirborði jarðar gufar upp og þéttist í ský sem umlykja flugvélina, myndi þrýstingur ofan á stélið minka þar sem skýið myndi safnast að neðan. Vegna átthyrnings lagaðra glugga myndi þrýstingurinn valda þreytu meðal farþega því hringiða myndi myndast fyrir utan. Þeir sem ekki myndu stofna myndu dáleiðast og valda óskunda. Eina leiðin til að sporna við þessu er mikil neysla sítrus ávaxta.
