"I came as soon as I got your text."
The swing beside me creaked underneath Taehyung's weight, keeping his voice quiet enough to not startle me.
Although by this point it's going to take a lot more to break the tough exterior I've built up.
The squeak of rusty metal was somewhat methodical as we both slowly rocked forward and back in the confines of the deserted playground.
I needed to get out of the house, away from the suffocating atmosphere that lingering over the Jeons estate.
I also needed someone to talk to, someone who would have a better understanding of what I'm going through, who can help me understand what Jungkook must be feeling right now.
It's something I feel like I failed to understand when Taehyung lost his mother.
"I'm guessing you want to talk about it," Taehyung started slowly, his voice gentle yet hesitant.
"I-- I have a lot on my mind and... you're the only person I can talk to about this."
He didn't say anything to that, only nodded in understanding. I could imagine he probably pictured his mother at my words.
'I'm sorry Taehyung, but you're the only person I feel comfortable talking about this with...'
"So... she was sick?"
My trembling lips pursed in thought, eyes puffy and red from the consistent rubbing as I tried to blink the soreness away with no luck.
"His mother said she hadn't been feeling well for a while. That evening when she came home, Ji-eun's car... it was gone," I let out a shaky breath, fingers tightening around the metal chain links. "I didn't get any full details when the doctor came, all I know is that she ran off the road on her way to our apartment. They couldn't save her... "
Another wave of silence as Taehyung processed the news.
The wind picked up, pushing his dark bangs away from his face briefly, the dimming fiery rays of the setting sun kissed his golden skin, highlighting the key points of his perfect face I've grown so accustomed to yet still managed to be sucked into a state of awe at his ethereal features.
Taehyung is one of the most beautiful people I've ever seen, even with the deep set frown currently adorning his face, he looked like a weeping angel at first glance.
Tae quickly pulled down the sleeves of his oversized gray sweater to block out the chill in the air as he thought through his next words carefully. "I'm not going to ask if Jungkook is okay. He's not," his deep voice rumbled softly.
That's why I wanted to speak with Taehyung.
Not only is he patient and calm but he understood how hard it was to talk about death. If it was Jin, Jimin, even my parents, they would have asked how Jungkook is, as if they would be expecting me to state anything but the obvious.
