September

September storms hum

They count droplets in the air

Trace clouds with light finger tip

But long, frigid nights that bite and gnaw

Turn gentle breeze to bitter ice

Gales slice

Hated

Overstated

September storms sigh

They turn light to cold steel

Turn auburn sunsets indigo

But their eyes looking down on grey streets

See only golds and blues

Summer hues

Faded

Enervated

September storms brood

They watch city lights dance

Hunger for grounding gravity

But the worrisome growl of a worried beast

Keeps ponderous bellies ever-filled

To be spilled

Jaded

Dedicated

September storms howl

They suffer in vast horizons

Make sure their pain is well known

But those vivid accounts of romance grand

Are of intricately quilted skies

Petty lies

Plaited

Fabricated

September storms watch

They coil bodies to spring

Poise themselves in coveys, hidden

But simply observes the others, prepare, listen

Waiting for the impending chime

Isn’t time

Bated

Asphyxiated
