Anxiety flares
the way that it does,
but you were there
and the whole world froze.
It snowed outside;
your teeth are just as white.
Conscientious as always,
but your smile is light.
I can’t help notice
your voice has a lilt.
You’ve picked up an accent;
you’re a man of their ilk.
Maybe I should be sad,
but I can’t stop laughing.
You’re so happy.
“You’re such a dork.”
and that’s all I say.
