They had an early start, in the earliest dawn, everyone had to wake up and get ready. Poe already decided that he was driving, taking Thomas and Vince as passengers. Jorge and Brenda will start shooting at the drivers, Vince is sure that WCKD will call for back up, and Brenda and Jorge will draw them away from the train. They plan on hijacking the Berg. It took them months to plan this mission.
Poe has waited for this moment since the Scorch, since that night WCKD attacked The Right Arm, that night WCKD took Minho and Anton. He was nervous if anything goes wrong, he was nervous if he slips and everything fails. Then possibly start all over. Or this heist is the only chance they have to bring their friends back. He was also determined, he grasps that determination as if it's the only thing he has, and maybe that's a good thing.
"You sure you got this?" Vince grabbed Poe's shoulder, sitting in the backseat
Poe knew Vince was worried because of his reckless driving. "If you're gonna keep questioning rather letting me focus on the trail, you're gonna send us into the ditch" He can't blame Vince for questioning, Poe had one incident involving driving that got him and Vince off the trail and send the vehicle into the ditch. If Vince was worried, it wondered Poe why the guy still let him behind the wheel.
The trails and the roads were bumpy, every little jump the vehicle did made Poe's heart to quicken. "We gotta hurry!" Thomas yelled over the loud roar from the engine as he checked the time from his wristwatch, "It'll be there any second"
Poe wished Thomas didn't say that because now, he was getting anxious that they may or may not catch up. He pressed his foot onto the accelerator until it reached the floor to get on full speed.
"Thomas! It's here, we're in pursue!" Brenda announced from the walkie.
"Shit" Poe muttered under his breath.
"I see it!" Thomas pointed on their right, on their right was the railroad and the train was already there.
"Screw this" Poe uttered, knowing that they won't catch up if he proceeds to follow the trail so he instantly turned the wheel towards right, taking the vehicle off the trail, driving down a hill toward a large open field and heading after the train.
"Brenda! We're coming up from behind! Keep em' busy!" Thomas said into the walkie-talkie.
They were yards away from the train, the vehicle was on full speed and gaining on the train quick than Poe had thought.
