mina's pov
"i'm here with you again, great," i said in a sad tone.
"why? what's wrong?" nayeon asked in a worried tone.
i sighed. "we know that you're the school's queen bee so everyone will compliment you and they'll talk shit about me.... again."
my bestfriend is known for her cute bunny teeth and the term 'girl crush'. she's a natural beauty with her big, doll-like eyes, soft rounded nose and pout-y lips and i'm the exact opposite, i even wear a gigantic circular eyeglasses and braces. if i could rate her from one to ten, it's a perfect ten.
we they stopped walking. "hey, people who will call you names and bully you will be sent to the principal's office asap. did you forget that my mother is the principal?"
i smiled at her and she placed her arm around my shoulder. people still bully me but i don't tell her because i don't care about them but it's still bothering me how they can just give me disgusted faces like i was a zombie or something.
nayeon and i became bestfriends since elementary. other students would tease me and call me names like 'ugly', 'monster', or 'witch' but thank god nayeon saved me from those bullies. we became really close, she's basically my soulmate! we would play at each other's house and talk about personal stuff. we were like twins except for the fact that i'm hideous and unappealing and she's prepossesing and good-looking. she's the only person that i can trust aside from my parents. i have to admit that i'm kinda jealous of her, she's too pretty to hang out with me. i feel very different from her.
nayeon's pov
"if y is 3, what is x?" the teacher asked and looked for a pupil to answer but unluckily, she chose mina who was busy sleeping. "myoui mina."
i nudged at her and she woke up. she looked at the board for a while and answered. "x is 10."
wow. just wow.
how did she know the answer if she was sleeping the whole entire class.
"impressive," the teacher replied while clapping her hands. "but please don't sleep at my class because you're just disrespecting me."
mina stood up and bowed. "sorry ma'am."
mina... she's the smartest kid i know. i've known her for a long time. i know under those glasses, braces, and kinda messy hair, there is true beauty inside. she's just shy to show it.

"hi nayeon," other people greeted at nayeon and just completely ignored me, others gave me disgusted glances. not gonna lie, i'm used to it.
suddenly, a handsome guy came up to nayeon. "hey! i think you are really beautiful. can i have your phone number?"
nayeon just awkwardly smiled. "uhh, the thing is, i just give my number to people i know."
well.... the atmosphere became more awkward.
"erm.... we can know more about each other!"
"maybe next time." she patted his back and we continued walking. while we were walking, i suddenly bursted out in laughter. "why are you laughing?"
"you just dumped him," i answered while giggling. she laughed with me while walking.
"oh, she's with nayeon again?"
"how is she close friends with her? i can be a better friend than that.... unattractive girl."
"eww."
"she's uglier than last year."
"you can already tell the difference between them two, she's pretty and other one is ugly."
yep. those were some of the things i hear everyday. even in sns, they would dm me and tell me to kill myself and get away from nayeon. i can't do that. she's the best thing that happened in my life. i can't just let a simple message bring me down. i thought one day that i can be as beautiful as her but i'm already at grade 11 and nothing is evolving, just my ugliness.
nayeon's pov
"hey nayeon," i turned around to see jimin who was smiling.
"hey?" i said in a questioned tone because he was smiling.... like a fool.
"can i have your number?" he asked.
"uhh, well.... i can't...." i stopped talking when i realized that i'm talking to mina's crush.
"huh?"
"i mean, yeah! of course!" i gave him the number of mina. "here." i gave his phone back.
"thank you," he said. "i'll text you later."
