Part 2: Love You

He just opened the door and walked right into the living room. What makes him think that after seven years he can just open my house door without anyone's permission.

You shot up and dropped the album on the couch and he walked towards you slowly, cautiously.

"Are you okay?" He reached his arm out towards you.

"Don't touch me!" You yelled and in a moment of panic because he was so close to you, you ran out to the backyard and climb up the old oak tree in the corner of your yard.

He followed you after he got over his surprise and starts to climb up, but when he sees you start to climb further up, he gives up, but you keep going, trying to put as much distance between you and Cameron as possible, almost like the distance is between your mind and his.

Your foot slips and startles you enough to start falling. You close your eyes expecting to hit the ground, but instead soft arms catch you and you open your eyes, shocked so much so that you couldn't move.

Cameron starts leaning in and you scramble out of his arms and run through the house and out the front door, not stopping until you get to the park.

You run to the tunnel slide and climb and sit on the outside of it, legs flush against your chest and tears already re-wetting your cheeks.

You hastily wipe them away and focus on the hole in your jeans.

You hear the crunch of gravel and look up to see Cameron has followed you, yet again.

You slide off the side of the slide and book it to the woods.

You go off path and find the old abandoned tree house that you found a while back.

You sat in silence for a while, letting your thoughts invade your mind when a twig snaps and leaves crunch.

Cameron comes walking out of the trees, hands jammed into his pockets and was looking at you the entire time he walked slowly forward.

You groaned and yelled, "Just leave me alone!" Jeez, does this guy not take a hint?

"That's the problem." Cameron kicked a pinecone. "You've been on my mind ever since I left and I can't get you out. Every breath, every smell reminds me of the things we used to do. The late-night McDonald's runs, the early morning swims, the campfires, all of that. Even movie nights." He paused, taking a deep breath to sort out his thoughts. "I love you. I don't know why it took me that long to figure it out, but I love you. I've been dreaming about holding you in my arms since I knew I was coming home 2 weeks ago."
