Aubrey's POV
*phone ringing*
I can hear my phone ringing in the distance. I'm not sure if it's part of my dream or not. The ringing gets louder and louder. Now it's too loud to ignore. I open my eyes to check if it's really ringing and it is. I quickly take it and look who's calling: Heather.
"Hello?", I'm very confused as to why she's calling me so early in the morning. It's like 7am.
"Aubrey, get up and get ready", how is someone so chirpy at this time of the day. I've established that I am not a morning person, not at all.
"Uhm okay what should I wear?", I'm not even going to ask specifics. I'm going to do as I'm told and get ready. It would be very easy to kidnap me really, I'll get into the car myself.
"Swimming costume, we're going to this secret lagoon my friends and I found last summer", secret lagoon, hmmm this sounds interesting. Today's the day I meet Heather's other friends. She's been hanging out with me everyday since we met so I'd sort of assumed she didn't have any other friends, how crazy of me to assume that, of course she had friends before I came around. I've never seen her with her other friends and we've gone out to the boardwalk a few times together. Oh well I'll probably find out where they've all been.
"Okay. See you soon", I get up and sit on my bed for a while just looking around. I finally get up and get ready, packing a bag with a beach towel, sunblock and a top. I get dressed into my white bikini, Mandy always says it suits my tanned skin and light brown hair, and put on a pair of shorts. I wear any flip flops I find first. Looking at myself in the mirror I look quite scary at the moment. My hair is crazy! I struggle with my tight curls for a while until I tame them and they hang down my back and shoulders with some order. I put on some eyeliner and mascara after I wash my face and a peachy/pink lipgloss. After I give myself another look over I decide I look good enough to be within other human beings. As I'm walking to my mom's room there's a knock at the door and I know it's Heather, I go open for her and give a hug. She tells me I look very cute and I compliment her back. Back to my moms room, I open the door to find her typing away on her laptop.
"Hey mom, Heather and I and a few other friends are going to go swimming. I'll be back later", I say to my mom and she looks up from her laptop.
"Okay hun, did u pack your sunblock? You haven't eaten breakfast, don't you want me to whip up something quick for you and Heather?", I look at Heather and she says we're going to eat that side.
"No thanks mom, don't worry I brought some money with me to buy something when I get hungry later. I love you.", I don't want to prolong this conversation any longer and make my way out the door. Once we're outside there's a car waiting for Heather and I. We get in and I greet everyone.
"Guys this is my new friend Aubrey, she's new here, she moved here about a week and a half ago", everyone greets me and individually introduces themselves. There's only about 3 of them so remembering their names will be easy:
Kate, she's beautiful, she's brunette like Heather with green eyes. She's tall, I can tell even though she's sitting down. Her voice is so soothing and so calm.
James, he's more of the nerd type but like a popular nerd, I'm not sure if that makes any sense. He's got sandy blonde hair and braces. I like his top. It has Bart Simpson on it.
Then there's Andy. He's driving the car, I think it's his car. He's got beautiful dark hair that falls past his ears but don't touch his shoulders, in the front it falls perfect onto his eyebrows, that's seriously sexy! He's got perfect white straight teeth and a sexy deep voice. He also looks tall, with built arms but not too big. He looks like he could be a football player.
I realize that I was maybe lingering on Andy when he said hi. He's just very good looking, very attractive. I already know boys like him are trouble but there's no harm in being friends. After the introductions we make our way to the secret spot.
Whilst we're driving, everyone talks about their random things. I sit and listen, laughing every now and then at a joke someone made. About 30 mins later we park in this random spot. I look around and don't see much. As if sensing my confusion, Heather tells me we must walk for 10 mins to the spot. I wonder how they even found this place. We all get out and start walking. The scene is beautiful, some trees and an ocean near by.
"So do you like it here so far?", Andy interrupts my thoughts.
"Yeah it's okay", not knowing what else to say I keep quiet. For some reason Andy makes me nervous. There's just something about him that I can't put my finger on.
"So what about your siblings, have you guys gone to the beach yet?", I look like I have siblings, that's great! I don't look as lonely as I thought I did.
"I'm an only child, it's just mom and I, my dad passed earlier this year", I say not really wanting to get into detail but also being honest because I don't want him to think my dad skipped out on us, he would never do that, he was a good man.
"Oh I'm sorry. I didn't mean to pry.", Andy scratches the back of his neck looking embarrased he brought up the sad topic. I laugh a little at how sorry he looks. I tell him it's all good and we talk a little more as we make our way to the spot.
