Chapter 2: Im Always Here

A few weeks later McKenna and Bucky were eating lunch in the teacher's lounge when her phone went off. "Hey can't get Sawyer tonight sorry if you had plans." was the text she got. 

She rolled her eyes and sighed and he said "What? What did he do now?'

"Being not dad of the year." She said as she let him see the text.

"If he's going to keep missing his weekends then why don't you go to your lawyer and get full custody." he said 

"Then I would have no life." she said 

"That's not true..your parents have been nothing but amazing at helping you with her." he said

She looked down and said "But it's true Bucky..I can't rely on my parents to watch her. She's my daughter I'm the one that cries at night when he doesn't show up to her ballet recitals or misses his weekend I don't cry cause I still love him cause I hate him but I cry for her it's hurts me cause he's not being the dad he should be for her." 

Bucky grabbed her hand and said "Kenna darlin you can't force him to be around if he doesn't want to be around. Ever since you got pregnant with Sawyer. He's been nothing but a total asshole. I'm surprised he didn't cancel the wedding when you found out about Sawyer." 

She wiped tears and "I can't do this anymore Buck..I"m tired this isn't how I pictured my life at 28 years old to be a single mom to a 2 year old cause my ex husband couldn't keep it in his pants and I'm grateful for my parents and his parents cause they do love her too but I just didn't want my life to be this way. He doesn't pay his child support half the time I really wanted to take the coaching job that Fury offered me but I couldn't and I still can't cause I would have to bring her with me cause the day care closes at 5." 

Bucky got up and turned her chair and he hugged her and said "Darlin you have got to stop letting him get to you like this."

He lifted her chin and he said "Kenna baby you can't do this to yourself. I'm going to come over tonight ok I'll make you two dinner and help with her and whatever else you need help with." 

"Ok." she said as she sniffled. 

They finished their lunch and then got their classes and finished out their day of work. She went and picked up Sawyer  from daycare. When she got home she turned on "Little Mermaid" for Sawyer and gave her some milk. After she got Sawyer settled she started some laundry and then Bucky came in and she heard "BUCK BUCK" and she smiled. She had been calling him that since she could talk. "Hey my little doll where's mama." 

"Mama mama" she said as she walked through the apartment. 

"I'm in the laundry room baby." she yelled from the laundry room. 

Bucky picked up Sawyer and said "Let's go find her my little dollbaby." 

He put his stuff down in the kitchen that he got to make dinner and then went into the laundry room. He found McKenna folding towels and he said "Look we found her Sawyer"

"Mama Buck Buck." she said as she clapped

"I know I see him he's going to make us dinner." she said 

He put Sawyer down and walked up behind McKenna and said "What are you doing this is your night off I'm doing this for you." 

"Buck I don't expect you to do this for me." she said as he started to push her out of the laundry room and said 'No mama gets a night off Bucky is taking care of everything you go watch your movie with Sawyer." 

"Bucky.' she said 

She went to the living room with Sawyer and watched her movie with her while Bucky made them dinner. He helped her with Sawyer while they ate and then he cleaned up his mess as they watched Frozen. Then he started what laundry she had and then at 730 he picked up Sawyer and said "Now little miss it's time to get you ready for bed." as he tickled her.
