Amara's POV
I can't believe I just agreed on it. Meeting a stranger, well not completely a stranger, still, what on the earth I was even thinking.
In my defense, he offered to pay for food and some fun time.
Only a fool could resist such an offer. Right?
I guess its first time for everything.
There was this constant feeling of frisson, I felt when I re-reading the location I sent to Noah yesterday for our little party, and that is now.
'Angelo's pizza is a human-made heaven here in Madison. The pizza's there are to literally die for. Even the thought of those had made my mouth water and I can't wait to devour them.
And meet Noah, of course.
I looked at my outfit, which consisted of a black t-shirt that has FIGHTER imprinted on it and some ripped denim jeans. I tightened my ponytail and tucked the few stray strands of hair that kept poking my eyes.
With a layer of chapstick on my lips, I was done, I checked the time as it read 5:05 and crap I am late.
We were supposed to meet at 5.
I grabbed a pair of black sneakers and dashed toward the front door.
Angelo's is just a 5 min walk from my house but as it is not the time for walking so I ran, all the way until I reached the parking lot of the pizzeria.
Panting, I rested my back on the wall as I checked the time again, it's 5: 07. My chest was heaving from the lack of air in my lungs but I wanted to scream a yes and jump in joy as I made it in just 2 minutes.
I guess that had to wait.
"About time, I was just thinking that I got ditched. " A voice startled me.
I turned around, still panting from the lack of oxygen in my body.
I was dazed at the sight of the intruder, the same black hair, tan complexion, a body between lean and muscular. Half of his face was glowing in the sunlight enhancing his features as I looked up to meet his eyes.
Soft light brown eyes that turned a shade of orange in the sunlight greeted me and I gasped.
"You alright?" he asked me when he took in my state of breathlessness.
"yee-aah " I breathed out.
Looking up I meet again with those bright brown eyes that held a questioning look.
Oh right.
"I ran all the way here" I explained him and he nodded in understanding.
"So you up for some pizza?" He asked me while shifting his face towards the shadow.
I smiled in response which he returned and we walked together.
We found an empty booth at the corner, situated near the windows and got ourselves seated.
"So" he started " what would you like to eat?" he asked me while looking at the menu .
"Umm wait, the whole point of this is not food and you promised me a good time remember, " I said while smiling at him.
"So let's make this less awkward," I said and held my hand up for him to shake. " I'm Amara and its nice meeting you" I added and stared up at him for a reaction.
He gave me an amused smile and shook my hand. "I'm Noah and its pleasure indeed," he said. "Nice t-shirt " he added while staring at my t-shirt.
"Thanks. So how do you know me?."
"Well," he started "We were at the same dance group previous year but then you bailed, I had the list of name from all the participants and their phone numbers for contact so that's where I got yours." He explained while fidgeting his fingers.
Is he nervous? I thought.
"Yeah I was hiding in my bed, with the worst flu ever in the history, so I bailed. "
"What can I get for you guys," A cute looking waitress asked us whilst writing something on her notebook.
"Margherita," We both said at the same time which startled the waitress as she almost tripped.
We both grinned at each other.
"Two Margherita pizza and coke, that will be all, " Noah said to the girl to which she nodded and left.
"So.." I trailed off, unable to think anything to start a conversation.
"Sooo" He repeated while raising his eyebrows at me.
I fidgetted my fingers and looked up at him, he was smiling at me, and sensing my difficulty to reply he said.
"Here I thought we were past this awkward phase "
"I don't know what to say " I blurted out, "I mean... why don't you tell me something about yourself "
"I'm 16, baseball player and I can dance to" He replied, looking at me.
"Oh, I love baseball, I-I mean I've played baseball " I stammered out while nervously looking at him.
God Damn it, what the hell is up with me.
"You serious?" He asked giving me a flabbergastered look.
I nodded at him.
"Yeah, girls play baseball too. It's not big of a deal, I kinda love baseball. "
He was still giving me that look that says 'No way in hell its normal'
"Cool, I mean I've never seen a girl play, join us some time "
Oh, no way I 'm going to embarrass myself with these professional players.
"Umm I-I,... Its been a long time since I played so .. and I don't want to disturb you guys"
"Offer is still up, " he said.
"So, any plans for the vacation ."
"No not this year. I always went to D.C at grandad's for the summer stay, this year he is coming to stay with us. You've got any plans? "
"None that I'm aware of. "
"Finally somebody. All of my friends are leaving me to rot in boredom."
I chuckled at that, at the same time the waitress came with our pizza's.
"Hungry?" he grinned at me.
"Oh, you have no Idea ."
