"Mr. Fisher, I'm sorry but you can't go with her." The nurse said after they prepped Carrie for surgery, "You can sit down in the chairs over there. We will get you when we have updates."

I nodded and did as she told me to. Charlotte and I sat in the waiting room for hours on hours.

"Do you think mom's going to be okay?" My daughter asked with tears.

"I sure hope so." I said pulling her into my arms and kissing her head. "She's strong, so strong."

6 hours later....

"Mr. Fisher?" A doctor in scrubs approached me.

Charlotte was asleep.

"Yes?" I stood up, laying Charlotte's head against the armrest.

"It seems as if the cyst in your wife's brain bursted. It caused her to have a strong seizure. Now we have discovered that with it popping, although it was dangerous to happen, we were able to remove it easier. As of right now, we have her on bypass. She will wake up when she is ready to, but she is cancer free." The doctor stated with sympathy.

"Is she going to wake up? What are the chances?" I asked right away, worrying.

"Sometimes it is extremely hard to tell when someone receives brain surgery, but we are praying for a healthy and strong recovery. When she wakes up, she will be groggy and she may not remember much. We won't know until she wakes." The doctor said to me, "would you like to go visit her?"

"Oh, yes! Let me get my daughter." I told him as I ran over to Charlotte.

Charlotte and I followed the doctor into the room Carrie was in. She had her head wrapped and chords everywhere. Over her mouth, she had a mask on. I've never seen her this way before.

Charlotte and I sat in chairs next to Carrie's bed. I couldn't imagine ever thinking this would happen to our family.

Charlie and I fell asleep sitting in the chair and our heads laying on the edge of Carrie's bed.

I woke to the sound of the sheets moving around and I looked up to see Carrie awake.

"Baby, oh my gosh." I said as I took her hand.

My wife gave me such a confused look.

"Mike..." she whispered in pain, "where are we?"

"We're at the hospital, Care. You had surgery." I said as I rubbed her hand.

"I...I don't remember." Carrie admittedly stuttered.

"It's okay, we will get through this. You just rest, baby." I said kissing her forehead as she closed her eyes.
