She was one of the rare ones,so effortlessly herself,
and the world loved her for it.
I loved Sunday mornings, there was always something about them that gave you a vibe of peace. The quilt covers snuggled my body as I felt the sun wake against my face. I was laying on my stomach again, which made my arms numb. I rolled over to my side, checking the time, 4:30, another early morning. I also noticed Jen texted me,
Hey stranger, hope your flight went well. text me xx
I smiled, thinking of how she would sound saying it in person.
The place is great. How are things?? Did the Cordells ever reply back?
I set my phone back and pulled myself out of the bed, trying not to be drawn back into bed. Still in my pajamas, I quietly walked downstairs and into the kitchen hoping to make breakfast without waking the rest of the house.
"You're up early," I jumped, not noticing the figure sitting at the counter.
The figure was Henry, I recognized his eyes instantly as my green eyes clashed with his blue ones. I swear last night when our eyes met I could hear the ocean and it reminded me of Cassidy. Thinking of the small trips we use to make to the beach, she adored the sand, always told me to loosen up when we went. I hope her family takes her there.
Henry moved, bringing me back to the kitchen and out of my thoughts,
"I was just about to make breakfast, you want me to make you something?"
I sat down next to his empty sit,"That would be great, what are you making?"
"Well, I don't think my mom has bought anything recently. Maybe I'll find ingredients to make pancakes," He turned to the pantry and I instantly got out of my seat to help.
Henry went to the cabinets hoping to find the pancake mix as I went into the pantry. It took a couple of minutes but I finally found it, back closer the other side of the wall.
I peeked out of the pantry,"I hit the jackpot Henry," Henry smiled walking into the pantry behind me.
I pointed up to where it was located, since he was taller, I was hoping he would grab it for me. Then he reached up, closing the personal space between him and I and grabbed the mix.
"I think it's..." I suddenly looked up curious to why he stopped his sentence. There was Henry, with his dreamy blue eyes tangled with my green ones. For a moment I could really study him, his tall figure, tapped with blonde hair that was freshly groomed. You could tell he was a working man, especially a business guy. His face got closer and closer when finally he zapped out of his own thoughts.
"Um, I meant there's none in here. It's just an empty box," He laughed, standing straight up and walking out.
That was weird.
"How about cereal then?" I suggested, sitting back at the counter. Henry agreed and then moved back to the pantry to get cereal.
"So New York huh, ever get tired of a busy city?" I asked, watching him pour the cereal.
Henry laughed,"All the time, Tennessee is way better then that trashy place," I looked up, curious of his side comment.
So of course I asked,"Then why do you live there? There are plenty of hospitals who need doctors here," He laughed again, making my heart twitch.
Run that by me again?
His laugh was intoxicating. It was like something I've missed for so long and finally hearing, not to mention his smile was gorgeous. I need to stop, c'mon Rose he's your brother.
