Recap
"What's your name?" he questioned.
"Heather," I said quietly.
"That suits you," he said smiling.
I didn't know how a name could suit someone. However, I liked my name, so I took it as a compliment.
"I'm Kade," he said in his deep voice.
I nodded, and I looked down to where his large finger was around mine. I continued to follow him, and he brought me to a staircase.
"We're going to the top seats," Kade said while grinning.
I smiled, actually excited to see the court from that perspective. I took a deep breath, and started the long walk to the top.

After a few minutes of climbing the stairs, we finally reached the very highest seats. I took a shaky breath because I never realized how truly terrified of heights I was. However, when Kade squeezed his fingers lightly around mine, I felt reassured. I tried to pay more attention to him and less on the height. The walk up here had been silent, and I was assuming he was waiting until we sat down for the questions.
"You choose," Kade said while gesturing to the seats with the hand that wasn't in mine.
I tentatively made my way to the very top seat in the corner. I had already made it to the very top seat, why not just sit at the farthest one I rationalized? Kade followed behind me and lightly chuckled when I held on to the hand rail until my knuckles turned white. I looked shyly down at my feet. I knew he didn't want to spend time with me. He asked me to come up here, so he could make fun of me. I roughly tugged my hand out of his. I should have just said no to Kade and went to the van, I thought angry at myself for my stupidity. I felt a tear fall, so I quickly turned around so Kade wouldn't notice it. I began making my way down the stairs as he called my name out, confused.
I knew no one really cared about me, but when someone shows me kindness, I become somewhat hopeful. Hopeful, that for once in my life since my parents died that I might be able to be happy. But of course, the person that sparks the hope inside of me never really cares for me. I should have known someone like Kade didn't actually mean what he was saying about me. He most likely was bored and decided to have some fun with the loser orphan. I don't know why Kade laughing at my fear and not caring for me hurt, but it did.
I hadn't realized that while I was thinking I had been running. My feet were gliding down the many stairs. Tears blurred my vision and my throat was making weird choking noises, but I didn't slow down. I have had many bad days at the orphanage, but this was by far the worst. I heard my name being repeatedly hollered, but it fueled me to move faster. I cursed myself for being weak and frail because I knew Kade would catch up to me soon. The only reason he hadn't caught me yet was because I had shocked him and got a head start. My feet hit solid smooth ground, and I knew I was on the base level. It was the same level that gave me access to the parking lot where the vans were parked. I looked toward the middle of the stadium at the basketball court to see the kids still blissfully playing with the basketball players. At least they are having a better time than I am, I thought bleakly.
I was still sprinting toward the door, and my legs were beginning to burn in exhaustion. I heard Kade's footsteps get louder and louder, and I knew that he was about to catch me. I looked down at my feet willing them to go faster, when I ran into something sturdy. I rubbed my arm which took most of the impact. I whimpered knowing that I had officially broken it. I looked up to see Levi gazing down at me with a confused look. I tried to move around him hearing Kade stop right behind us.
