A/N - hey everyone, so real quick I just wanted to say that I'm sorry for the wait, but here is the rewritten, and hopefully better version of the prologue! I'll get the new chapter out to you soon! Special thanks to lonecosmovoltronwolf when I posted the a/n about me restarting the story they commented about it an it actually encouraged me a lot! So thank you very much!

Now onto the prologue! Redone!

————————

I remember vividly when I lost my own innocence. When I stopped believing in humanity. My own and others for that matter. I remember... the exact moment that I lost all hope.

Hope, funny word really. A beautiful lie to cover up the ugly truth of reality. People are full of it. I remember meeting a boy full of hope on the playground when I was younger. I don't recall his real name... but I remember almost everything about that day. Why? It was the day that brought hope back into my life, but I guess I should start at the beginning.

- 9 Years prior -

The thumping of feet hitting the grass echoed throughout the playground. Children screaming with joy as they tumbled down the slides. A shy girl pressed herself against the swings, rocking back and forth, humming a soft tune to herself. Her (f/c) gloves complimenting her messy, (h/c) hair. She was caked in dirt and had stains on her skin from sliding in the grass.

A small, Fox like creature sat in her lap. He looked lazily around, ready to defend his partner in crime at any moment.

"Tenkoooooo! Get up!!! I know you wanted to rest but I'm bored! I wanna go on the slides before Mrs. Sato takes us home!" The girl whined, puffing out her cheeks and letting the swing come to a halt.

The fox let out what sounded like a snort, putting his head back in his paws and flicking his tail. Almost as if he was dismissing her.

She sighed, resting her hand on his back, gently stroking his neatly groomed fur. "Please tenko... I'll give you a treat when we get home! Promise!" She said hopefully.

The fox's ears perked up before he turned his gaze to her. That was the one thing that seemed odd about him. His gaze. One eye was regular, a brilliant emerald. A jewel anyone would kill to have. The other, the same color at the iris. However, the white of his left eye was a deep abyss. One that sent shivers down anyone's spine. He got up, hopping onto the ground and arched his back to stretch. Almost resembling a cat.

She grinned, a smile that could light up the entire world. Or so her parents told her. She quickly picked the fox up and began running towards the slides, when a pair of hands grabbed her by under the armpits and pulled the girl to their chest.
