Kadrashal

20 June 2018 Session

Nadab (aka Jafar al-Haj, aka Scar) died. Also, we switched to meeting on Wednesdays.

Val's and Breccia's players came late, so we started off where we we left off - gnolls around the corner, Israim facing down Clera, Val, and Morbash... Morbash beheaded Israim in fairly short order, intimidating one of the two remaining gnolls. Bob Donovan had already killed one by double critting - thereby Robin Hooding two bolts to the throat. Nijaat handled the other two with help, although the cramped confines of the hallway added to the confusion.

We switch views over to Breccia (who'd arrived), who'd been woken up by the chaos. After searching the room a little more thoroughly, she found a hole leading to the cell next door, where Jira was trying (unsuccessfully) to pick the lock. After a bit of thinking, the two girls managed to lift the door off its hinges, similar to Will Turner in "Pirates of the Caribbean"; however, the noise from the falling door drew the attention of one of the nearby gnolls, just as the rest of the party ran into two others.

Oh, forgot to mention, Clera in the previous encounter had called out in Kadrashali to a gnoll chieftain something along the lines of, "Shenzi! Operation Freedom!", and the chieftain left.

Yes. This group is based off Scar and his pack of hyenas from "The Lion King".

Anyway, the gnolls are defeated, and a quick look outside showed the gnolls fighting among themselves. After reuniting with Breccia and Jira, and freeing Durat, a crotchety old man, they took a 20 minute breather before facing off against Jafar.

They attacked from two fronts, with Donovan, Nijaat, and Morbash coming in from the front, while the rest came from the side. (Jafar's other, more loyal wife Hatshe was not present.) I think it was intended for Group A to be the distraction, but, well ... they just charged straight in. Donovan revealed his own lycanthrope nature, dueling Jafar 2-on-1 with Clera's help, while the rest of the party took on the other two gnolls flanking the boss. I ruled that lycanthropes can bypass the physical damage immunities, because how else do they fight for dominance? Donovan won with only 2 hp left, tearing Jafar's head off with his teeth. He hit the exact number needed to kill him, too. Jafar had originally had 125 hp, by the way. Also, Amael landed the killing blow on one of the two gnolls.

That night, they stayed there; the other gnolls were either dead or gone. Morbash and Clera had a nice chat, bodies were looted, Amael congratulated, etc. Nijaat also had an unsettling dream about standing in a field of corpses, blood on her claws and the taste of it in her mouth, as she was laughing insanely. When she awoke, her swords had turned to sand. Also, Clera left sometime in the night.

It is now May 16. Nijaat has 8 kills, Morbash has 5, Breccia has 2, and Donovan and Val each have 1. Significant kills include Donovan's slaying of Jafar.
