Unknown POV

Today is my first day of grade six, I'm so excited.
I put on my black and purple backpack and race out the door.
I arrive to school a few minutes later and I enter my assigned classroom.
The classroom already had kids that were sitting and talking with their friends.
I didn't really have friends except for one person....but she wasn't here yet.
The class filled with more kids and finally the teacher entered.
She was a nice woman, young with black hair and pale skin.
I still hadn't taken a seat yet and miss Holly decided to put us in seats so that we could work better.

I got put in the middle of two boys. They were both mean and cold to me. They cursed, it looked and sounded fun so I decided to try something new for a change.
One of the boys' names was Zack.
He was cute.
I liked him, he was mean to me  but you saw a sliver of happiness in him on some days.
About three weeks had passed and I think I developed a crush on Zack.
We occasionally shared snacks and talked.
If he didn't want to talk, he'd nudge my leg with his.
I decided to tell miss Holly because I was bored.
He got in trouble that day, I felt good.

Miss Holly moved me from the middle of them and I sat in between a girl with long brown hair -who was good at everything....or so I thought- and a boy who sometimes hangs out with Zack.
We talked and I became friends with the girl.
My best friend still hadn't shown up for class.
I wondered where she was.

One day I was writing in my notebook and the girl beside me asked who I liked, she said that she promised she wouldn't tell anyone, so why not?
I told her and turned back to complete my work.
When I finished, I put my book in my bag and spotted Zack with his eyes wide and she was talking to him. I knew she told him, I felt so hurt.
She promised.

One day we had a test, when we finished, we were correcting it and Vicky, my seatmate was changing her answers and putting them correct.
Apparently she got A's, was an actress and dancer, artist and many more things she could do.
We've all see her do it.
My seat mate saw too, we decided to team up and tell the teacher that she cheated.
We did and Simon, my other seat mate told the teacher, ms Holly didn't believe us.

I tried to get Vicky to admit it but she grabbed my shirt and pushed me around, then when I started to cry she said at she wthat she was joking. I decided to ask her if she told Zack that I liked him, she lied with a no.
Zack came up to me during recess and shouted in my face that he will never like me for any reason.
I was still hung over him the next couple of weeks but I avoided everyone.

One day I came to school and saw Zack talking to the new girl, Emma.
She was an angel. Didn't have a mean bone in her body.
I got jealous that they were talking, but I didn't do anything.
We moved up and we were in grade 8 now, after this is high school.
I came home that day and my parents told me that they were moving.

We moved to LA and it was amazing, I went to high school there and made friends.
We did fun things together, like graffiti the walls and prank the teachers.
One of my closest friends was Luke Ryder, he was nice and kind to me, and he was like a brother.

It was a Tuesday night and we were walking home from school.
I was 15 and we walked our normal path from school, talking about what our plans for this weekend is gonna be, but we were interrupted by an ear piercing scream.
In the alley, there was a man holding up a young girl who was kicking and screaming for help.
We decided to help her, by going into the alley and lead the man away from her, but it wasn't expected of what happened next.
We threw a pebbles and they hit the man, he turned around with a gun in his hand.
"If you kids were smart, you'd leave and never speak of this to anyone." He said.
"Let the girl go." I said.
"Why? She isn't anyone's." He said.
"Why do you want her?" Luke asked.
"None of your business!" He said.

I turned and looked at Luke, he nodded. I ran, jumped on the man causing him to fall and his gun to slide out of his reach.
We wrestled and when I saw that Luke had the girl, I got off of the man and told him to never bother the girl ever again. He laughed in my face and I rolled my eyes while walking away.

When I was walking, I felt something wet run down my pants.
I looked down and saw blood, then turned around and saw  the gun pointed at me.
"Bring the girl back to me and I'll let you two go." The man said.
"No, Luke run!" I shouted.
While Luke was running, knives were being thrown at us, one glided across my arm and when he was all out of knives, he began shooting at us.

I was five steps away from my house and a loud ringing ran through my ears.
I was on the floor, my upper leg shot, I looked over at Luke and saw that a pool of blood was surrounding him and his lifeless eyes stared at me, the girl was trying to get out of Luke's hold, she was mildly damaged.
The man was walking towards her with a sadistic smile across his features.
I had to do something, even if it meant getting killed, no one would miss me anyway.

I slowly got up and swept the mans legs from under him, throwing him off balance.
The gun was a few inches away from me but I didn't bother, I was furious that he killed Luke.
I straddled him and grabbed his head in my hands then twisted.
I heard a crack.
I didn't know what I did but I do now.
When I got off the man, the girl was gone.

I walked over to Luke's body and closed his eyes.
"I'm sorry." I whispered.
That day I went home, I didn't tell anyone what happened but someone did, because the next morning, the police showed up at my front door saying I'm under arrest for killing Luke Ryder.
They always say the first kill is the hardest.
