Hey, so I decided that I didn't like the way I wrote this chapter before, so I'm republishing it. Please be advised that there is some suggestive content, as well as alcohol and the discussion of periods in this chapter. If you don't like that, don't read it. For those of you who are fine with it, enjoy!

I woke up in Maxon's arms. The sheets of my bed were tangled around us, and my memory of last night was foggy. Yesterday was my nineteenth birthday, so the palace threw a huge party to celebrate. We had imported the best wines and liquors from all across the globe to fill the several bars lined along the dance floor. I only had a little champagne and red wine, but I feared Maxon would wake up with a killer hangover. His advisors probably would as well. They scheduled today as a day off the moment my party was announced.
I felt him stirring. "Good morning, my dear."
"Good morning. Unless you don't feel well from last night." I laughed.
"Me? I'm fine. What did I do last night?" He asked, confused.
"You don't remember? We were both pretty drunk. You, especially. It was my birthday party."
He thought for a second. " Oh yeah. I do remember that. But what I really remember is giving you your present."
I touched the diamond resting between my collarbones. "Thank you, Maxon. It's a beautiful necklace."
He smirked. "I'm not talking about the necklace."
I threw my pillow at him and buried my face in my hands. "You're gross."
" You didn't seem to think so last night."
My face got redder. "Maxon! Ugh, I hope you remember putting a condom on too, because otherwise we might get another little gift." I joked.
"America, now is not the time for a kid. I put a condom on."
"Good." I kissed his lips.
A moment passed. He broke away and brushed my hair off my forehead. "Besides, what are the odds of getting pregnant anyway?"
-----/--- Four Weeks Later ---\-----
"It's okay, May. Everyone goes through this at some point."
My little sister's first period came later than expected. I was starting to worry, because her fifteenth birthday was right around the corner. But today she came to me, crying her eyes out and asking what to do. She was really unnerved by the whole ordeal.
"I know, it's just so werid." She whispered. "How can I bleed that much without dying?"
I laughed. "Periods are the most fascinating part of womanhood. They're the reason why we're both here."
"You mean not having periods is the reason why we're here." She smiled.
"I guess you're right."
We walked in unison towards the women's room. Lunch was in an hour.
"So how was your period this month, America?" She says playfully.
"This month... I skipped this month. Probably because I just became queen."
She looked skeptical. " Haven't you been sick too? Oh my gosh!" May covered her mouth with her hand.
"You could be pregnant!"
No. No. Oh no, she's right. I could be pregnant. Condoms break.
"I don't know, May. It could be a little soon for tha-"
"Of course you're pregnant! I can tell. I'm going to be an aunt!" She burst into a fit of happy giggles.
"Just because I'm getting sick, it doesn't mean I'm having a baby."
May paused." Can't you at least take a test so we're sure?"
I huffed a out a breath. I should. What if I was?
"Okay, May. I will."
--------
I looked down at the tests. Lucy had some, so she gave me a few. She and Aspen really want a child, and they've been trying for months. When I told her about what May decided to call "the incident", she was very supportive.
I drank three cups of water, a mug of tea, and ate a watercress salad. (It's good, don't judge!) I hope that's enough.
After I peed on all three of the tests, I put them on the sink's edge and set my watch for two minutes.
The countdown begins.
2:00, 1:59, 1:58, 1:57...
A sigh escapes my mouth. I don't know what to think . What if each one of them is positive? What if all of them are negative?
1:30, 1:29, 1:28, 1:27...
I can't imagine my stomach blowing up like a ballon, but I can't leave the country without an heir. I want children anyway, right?
1:00, 59, 58, 57...
What if I can't have kids, like Amberly? Maxon would be so upset. And so would I.
23, 22, 21, 20...
At around three seconds to go, the lines appear on the first test.
Positive.
And then the second, and after, the third.
I'm having a baby.
My hand finds my abdomen. A baby is in there, growing. Part of Maxon and I, combined to make a completely new being. Suddenly, the implications of this make my heart fill with a joy stronger than anything I've ever felt. We're going to be a family.
I dash to Maxon's office without a second thought. But he's not there. I write him a note and sign my name with a heart, leaving it pinned behind a picture of us laughing.
"Miss, what's wrong?" Mary asks me as I burst in my room once again.
"Nothing", I heave, "But tell Maxon I need to see him in my bathroom immediately."
I slam the bathroom door shut without another word.
-----
It takes him a record of 3 minutes and 22 seconds to sprint from the sub levels of the palace to my bathroom.
Mary took the remainder of the afternoon off, but insisted that both Vivian and Iea stay with me instead. They let him in my bathroom without protest. "America, what's wrong? Are you oka-"
I cut him off by kissing him. "I'm fine, but I think ill need an ultrasound to check on the baby. " His face goes blank. "What?" He wispers intently. I reach behind me to grab one of the tests
"Surprise?" I hold it up so he can see. After a moment, he takes it out of my hand and starts laughing.  "Maxon, are you alright? Maxon?" Suddenly, I'm hoisted into his arms and he's spinning me around. "We're having a baby!"
I start giggling. Soon, we're spinning and laughing loud enough to worry my maids. Vivian knocks on the door frantically. "Your Majesties? What's going on? Queen America?" We take moment to regain our balance before opening the door.
"What's wrong?" Iea squeaks nervously from behind Vivian.
Maxon hugs my side and clutches two tests in his free hand. I reach out to show the other one to my maids.
"Guys." I start. Vivian stares, knowing full well what those two lines mean. "Can you keep a secret?"

A/N
Hi! As you might have noticed, I updated the cover for this story. I think it's more fitting than the other one. I'm not taking this story off hold just yet, with high school and track being my top priorities, but I had been working on this in my free time and wanted to upload it. I know it's been a year, but I'm not giving up. Love you guys! Hopefully I'll update this soon.
