Jack's P.O.V.

I rounded the corner of the sidewalk and shoved my hands into my pockets. It was raining heavily but it wasn't really bothering me. My mind was elsewhere. I stopped at a crosswalk and waited patiently for it to be safe to walk. When it finally turned, I dashed across the street quickly. I saw him standing in an alley, our usual meeting place, and I strode over to him.

"Hello," I said with a small wave.

"Hey Jack," Damien greeted, leaning back against the wall behind him.

"What have you been up to?" I asked politely.

"Oh, you know. The usual," He shrugged.

"Still looking for a reverse spell for Ever then?" I asked, sighing.

"Of course," He said furiously, suddenly consumed with anger. He shook his head and sighed, shoving is fingers through his matted brown hair.

"Look," I sighed. "Maybe you should give up," I suggested lightly.

"Give up!?" Damien shouted, drawing the attention of some passerby.

"Ever seems... happy. I don't need to know her that long to know that its been a while since that happened," I said, pulling up the hood of my jacket to shield myself from the rain.

"And why would she be happy?" Damien growled.

"You know exactly why," I frowned.

"Rie," He growled, balling his fists at his sides. I nodded slowly and leaned against the wall opposite of him, staring ahead.

"Why would you want to take that away from her? Don't you want the best for her?" I asked.

"Of course I do. I am the best for her," He snarled.

"I'm not saying that you're not but she seems genuinely happy with Rie," I said.

"She's not. Trust me," He huffed.

"Fine, fine," I murmured.

"I need to get rid of him," Damien whispered. My jaw dropped and I stared at him in awe.

"Damien you don't mean that! He's your friend!" I yelled.

"If he was my friend, he wouldn't be dating my mate!" He shouted.

"He's and angel for God's sake! You couldn't get near enough to hurt him even if you wanted," I sighed.

"I'll find a way," He sneered.

"Damien, pleaded don't do anything stupid," I pleaded.

"Why not?" He growled.

"Ever would never forgive you if you killed him," I stated matter-of-factly. I saw something flicker across Damien's eyes and he sighed.

"Fine, I'll find another way then," He muttered, crossing his arms over his chest.

"Atta boy," I smirked and clapped a hand on his shoulder. I looked down at the watch on my wrist and sighed. "I gotta get home. Ever expects me home for dinner," I laughed.

"Ever's cooking?" Damien asked, scrunching his nose.

"Yep," I chuckled. "Wish me luck."

Ever's P.O.V.

"Should I chop the lettuce?" I asked Rie.

"Ev, it's pre-shredded," He chuckled.

"I'll take that as a no then," I smiled. I turned towards the tomato and picked up the knife, positioning the blade at the end of it. I began slicing the tomato into thin strips when I heard Rie laughing behind me.
