The Effects of Love

Chapter 1

*It's mid-February and Dalis (pronounced duh-lease) and her best friend Troy are talking about who their Valentine is going to be, while Tucker is walking around campus looking for friends who aren't going to make fun of him for not having a Valentine in mind. He walks to the quad in hopes of finding his best friend Jonathan. Instead of finding Jonathan, he finds his friend Dylan. When Tucker looks to see who Dylan is eating with, he sees the girl that he's seen around campus. He thinks to himself, 'Oh gosh. There she is. I'm going to go sit next to her.' Troy looks to his left and hits Dalis on her leg.*

Troy: "Dalis! Dalis! Look who's coming over here!!!"

*Dalis looks in the same direction. Her crush, Tucker Graczyk, is walking towards their group of friends and sits down next to her. Dalis looks to Troy.*

Dalis: "Oh lord. This is not happening."

*Troy smiles and pinches her arm.*

Dalis: "OW! Excuse me sir! What was that for?!"

Troy: "You aren't dreaming."

*Dalis rolls her eyes and looks at Tucker. He puts his hand down and accidentally puts it on her hand.*

Tucker: "Oh my gosh I'm so sorry."

Dalis: "It's okay."

Tucker: "I'm Tucker."

*He puts his hand out and Dalis shakes it.*

Dalis: "I'm Dalis."

Tucker: "Dalis ay? That's a pretty cool name."

Dalis: "Thanks. Tucker is a nice name too."

Tucker: "Thanks."

*He turns to his friend and starts talking to him. Dalis turns to Troy.*

Dalis: "Oh my gosh. Did that really just happen? Cause if it did, I'm going to die."

Troy: "Yeah. It just happened."

*Troy is about to go back to eating his lunch, but then someone catches his eye. It's Jonathan Meier, the varsity quarterback and best friends with Tucker. Jonathan sees Tucker and sits next to Troy. Troy nudges Dalis, and she looks over and laughs hysterically.*

Troy: "Just our luck, get stuck between the two sexiest people on this campus."

*They both laugh and Jonathan taps Troy on the shoulder.*

Jonathan: "Hey. How's it going? I haven't talked to you in a while."

*Troy looks over at Jonathan and thinks, 'Maybe because you stopped talking to me after I came out to you.'*

Troy: "I've been good. I got my license a few months ago."

Jonathan: "That's awesome! Do you have a car yet?"

Troy: "Yeah. I'm driving my dad's BMW."

Jonathan: "Wow. Lucky. I drive a Camaro."

*The bell rings.*

Troy: "Hey Dalis! We have to go to class."

Dalis: "Fine..."

*Dalis turns to Tucker and smiles at him.*

Dalis: "Hey. It was nice meeting you. I hope you sit with us tomorrow."

*She says goodbye to Tucker and Jonathan says goodbye to Troy and they walk to class. Dalis walks away and Jonathan stands next to Tucker.*

Jonathan: "So what's her name?"

Tucker: "What? Huh? Oh. Her name is Dalis."

*Jonathan looks at Tucker, then Dalis, then back at Tucker.*
