The Effects of Love

Chapter 6

*They get to the hospital and Troy is rushed into the emergency room. Jonathan is trying to get through, but the doctors are keeping him out. Jonathan tells the doctors what is going on and how Jonathan is related or connected to Troy. Jonathan gets through and waits outside the operating room. Jonathan falls asleep watching the doctors move around the room in a frantic rush. When Jonathan wakes up, he realizes that the heart monitor has flat lined. He rushes to the window and tries to see what is happening. A doctor walks out and Jonathan runs over to him.*

Jonathan: "What happened to them?!?! Is he out?"

Doctor: "The parents called and told us to pull the plug."

Jonathan: "WHAT?!?!"

Doctor: "I'm sorry. They fought for a long time. But their parents decided that enough was enough."

*Jonathan runs out to the waiting room balling his eyes out. Dalis and Tucker both ask what happened and Jonathan tells them what the doctor told him. Dalis puts her head on Tucker's shoulder and starts crying. Tucker covers his face and starts crying as well. Jonathan walks out to the parking lot and calls his parents.*

Mrs. Meier: "Hi honey. How's Troy doing?"

Jonathan: "I don't know. Why don't you tell me? You called and had the plug pulled out!"

Mr. Meier: "Jon, we haven't called the hospital at all. Who told you the plug was pulled?"

Jonathan: "The doctor came out and I asked him how he was doing. He told me his parents called and told the operation team to just pull it."

Mr. Meier: "You better go talk to them before someone gets away with murder."

*Jonathan walks back into the emergency room and asks the nurse to tell him the name of the doctor who operated on the last patient who had an operation. She gives him a name and a phone number. He runs out to the parking lot and calls the phone number.*

Jonathan: "Hello? Is this Dr. Grey?"

Doctor: "Yes. Who is this? How did you get my phone number?"

Jonathan: "My name is Jonathan. You operated on my boyfriend today."

Doctor: "Oh yes. My condolences go out to you and the families affected by his passing."

Jonathan: "Wait. Why did you pull the plug? No body called the hospital and gave permission to do that."

Doctor: "Yes there was. The parents of the boy called and told us to let him go."

Jonathan: "I called my parents. They don't even know the name of the hospital."

Doctor: "Oh. Well, someone called it in. I can show you the body if you'd like."

Jonathan: "Can I see it soon?"

Doctor: "The next time I'm going to be in is three days from tomorrow."

Jonathan: "Okay. I'll see it then."

Doctor: "Okay. Goodbye."

Jonathan: "Bye..."

*Jonathan meets Tucker and Dalis and walks out to the car. When they get back to the hotel, Dalis talks to Jonathan about what he's thinking.*

Dalis: "What are you thinking?"

Jonathan: "The doctor told me someone did call it in. But when I talked to my parents, they told me that they don't even know the name of the hospital."
