The Effects of Love

Chapter 7

*Troy is sleeping in his hospital bed with Jonathan at his side. A doctor walks into the room and looks at Jonathan, Tucker, and Dalis. The doctor pulls out a syringe and walks toward Troy. The doctor uncaps the syringe and starts to put it into the IV in Troy's arm. Troy clenches his grip on Jonathan's hand and Jonathan wakes up. He sees the doctor and pushes him away.*

Jonathan: "What are you doing?!"

Doctor: "Go back to sleep. Troy needs his medication."

Jonathan: "Yesterday the other doctor said Troy didn't need medicine anymore."

*Dalis and Tucker wake up from all of the noise.*

Tucker: "What's going on?"

Jonathan: "This doctor was trying to inject Troy with something."

Dalis: "What's in the syringe?"

Doctor: "It's his medicine."

Tucker: "Wait. I thought he didn't need medicine anymore."

Jonathan: "He doesn't."

*Jonathan is pressing the doctor against the wall with an elbow at his neck. When Jonathan is calling for help, the doctor takes the syringe and sticks it in Jonathan's side. Jonathan collapses and the doctor runs out of the room. Tucker helps Jonathan up and Dalis chases the doctor. Tucker looks to Troy who hasn't said anything, and sees him passed out in bed. Tucker doesn't think anything of it until the heart monitor starts beeping. Within seconds, there's a team of doctors surrounding Troy and Dalis at his side. Tucker smacks Jonathan a few times and he wakes up. He hears the beeping and goes to Troy as fast as he could. Troy takes Jonathan's hand, looks at him, starts coughing, and puts his head back, then looks at Jonathan*

Troy: "I love you, so much. Just remember that. I will always love you."

*Troy gives off a moan of pain, puts his head back, and closes his eyes. The doctors are rushing because they know Troy doesn't have much time left. Troy opens his eyes, looks at Jonathan in unbearable pain, and gives off a sigh of relief. Jonathan looks at the doctors who have stopped. Troy moves his hand.*

Troy: "Thank you for giving me the best three weeks of my life. I love you."

*Troy puts his head back, tightens his grip on Jonathan's hand, screams in pain, and then loosens his grip. Jonathan starts panicking, and shakes Troy's hand.*

Jonathan: "No, no, no, no, no! Troy! Don't leave me!

*Tucker looks at Dalis who is covering her mouth. He gives her a hug and she starts crying. Tucker looks at Troy, then to the flat line on the heart monitor, and starts crying too. Jonathan falls to his knees, puts Troy's hand on the side of his face, and starts sobbing.*

Tucker: "I'm going to go call Jonathan's parents."

*Tucker walks out of the room and out to the parking lot. He pulls out his phone and calls Jonathan's parents.*

Tucker: "Hi. Mr. Meier?"

Mr. Meier: "Tucker? Hi! How is everything? I heard you proposed to Dalis! Congratulations!"
