"Mom, have you seen my white skinny jeans?!" I hollered from my bedroom on the top floor of our tiny town home while packing my second suit case as quickly as I could.

"They're down here, honey!" she called back from two floors below just as my cell rang. I didn't bother to check the caller ID,

"What is it this time, Sophie?" I answered the phone getting slightly irritated by the amount of times she's called me in the pastt hour to ask me pointless questions, most of which she already knew the answers to. "Don't you dare use that tone with me missy," she warned as I ran down two flights of stairs and rolled my eyes simultaneously, "and don't think i don't know that you just rolled your eyes" she added in.

I sighed and rolled my eyes once more "I don't have time for this soph." I whined into the receiver which I was skillfully balancing between my right ear and shoulder.

"Shouldn't have left packing to the last minute. you kn-" I cut her off before she could begin to lecture me once more "I know! I know! I've heard the same damn lecture a billion times already!" I exclaimed into the phone while grabbing the jeans out of my moms hands, she smiled at me and decided to join Sophie in her lecture

"Well you think you'd catch on by now and learn to pack, oh I don't know, " she paused and looked down at her wrist on which a gold watch hung. I had worked 4 long shifts at the local supermarket in order to be able to afford to get her that for Christmas, it was well worth it though as even now when she looked down at it I could catch her admiring it , "maybe more than an hour before you're supposed to meet up with the group at the airport?" she continued, saying it awfully sarcastically.

l pulled my phone away from my ear to check the time and groaned. Urg. It was already 2 in the afternoon and as Savannah, our strict and evil student trip organizer, had made clear , and I quote 'Anyone who shows up at the group meeting point any more then 30 seconds late will be subject to a very public and humiliating punishment "

. I threw myself onto the sofa and groaned out loud "I wasn't ment to live this life, I give up!".

My mom looked at me scrutinizingly and tilted her head, "who knew I raised such a drama queen?" she asked no one in particular.

"EVERYONE!" Sophie, who seemed to have heard us talking, screamed into the phone. My mom chuckled. "WHAT A WONDERFUL MOTHER AND BESTFRIEND I HAVE" I dramatically and very sarcastically announced loud enough for the both of them to hear me.

I climbed my way back up to my room to continue packing.

"Ok, so back to the reason why I called" Sophie started again, "I just wanted to make sure you're bringing your straightener because I really don't have any room left in my suitcase and you know since youre taking like two and you know we're sharing rooms for like two weeks ... Well maybe I could just ... You know ... Use yours ?" she asked hopefully.

"No." I responded bluntly.

"Oh, well ok .." she responded sounding like she was slowly deflating. When I couldn't hold it in anymore and I burst out laughing.

"Oh my god soph." I managed to say in between fits of laughter "did" i took a breath "you" breath "really" breath "just fall for th-" I paused in the middle of a word to catch my breath and by the time I was ready to continue Sophie had been ending her rant "...I can't believe you'd do that to me again! I hate you!"

"See you in five?" I asked knowing that she would be over it within the next few minutes.

"Four." she said simply and hung up the phone on me.

I rushed around the room, grabbing random items I figured I'd need in the next two and a half months and stuffed them into one of the two large suitcases I was taking.

Precisely four minutes later Sophie walked in "The pretty one's here" she jokingly said to an imaginary audience as she walked into my tiny room.

"yeah yeah, ok 'pretty one' let's see if that 'pretty' butt of yours can help me deal with this situation over here" I said pointing to my neon green suitcase which was refusing to close.

"Pretty" she commented staring at my new luggage set. I wondered how many times the word was going to be repeated before we finally got somewhere with this. "Courtesy of daddy dearest?" she asked.

"Yep" I said, popping the p.

Sophie was the only one who truely new about my dad and the money that was under my name. I didn't like making a big deal about it or showing it off. I didn't want anyone to treat me any differently cause lord knows there were definitely enough blondes out there with rich daddy's to keep the stereotypes alive.

We struggled with the suitcase for another ten minutes before finally admitting defeat and calling my brother for assistance. Adrian seemed to zip it up with ease and then proceeded to look down at us as if he were seriously wondering how stupid we could actually be because we couldn't do it ourselves. I stared at the shut and secure neon green bag with my mouth agape.

"It couldn't have shut so easily! We tried everything!" I exclaimed.

"yeah, okaaay" he said pretending to believe me

"I swear!"

"okay." he said simply.

"Adi, I swear on my life!"

"I'm going to put these boulder sized luggage bags in the car, you go say bye to mom. Try to keep her from getting emotional and remember to promise her you'll call or else I'll never hear the end of her worrying"

I locked pinkies with him and smiled " I promise." as he walked off I couldn't help but smile, he had really come along since the divorce. I was glad that we had gotten closer the past few years. Although I already kept my goodbyes with my mom short and sweet, this time i had cut that time in half as we were running late. I promised to call whenever I got the chance and hopped into the car with Adi and Sophie. As we sped off however, I couldn't help but worry as Savanah's voice crept into my mind. It seemed almost as if the words "very public and humiliating punishment" were on repeat in my mind, and I glanced at the clock.
