Hey Guys,
So I started writing my chapter but I don't know where it disappeared so here it goes again. Same thing.
I was thinking of the famous SRK dialouge and remembering Alia's rendition of that dialouge in Humpty and going to construct a story based on that.VD POV
I was glad I was in Mumbai. If I was not I would have surely missed this beautiful celebration of this beautiful movie. Sid was also there so I was ecstatic. Really happy and excited for Karan and the whole Dharma family.
It was a proud moment for him.
It was his directorial debut. It was special.
Sid was waiting back stage with me and just standing like a good boy.
" What's up with you?" I asked Sid.
" Why? What is it Varun?" Sid asked.
" Nothing." I told him.
" No. You're lying." He told me.
" Sid only Alia knows when I'm telling the truth or not." I informed him.
" Yeah. So I am also your best friend. I should also know." Sid conceded.
" Okay. Fine. I miss her okay. " I justified.
" Who? " Sid asked unaware.
" Alia, who else? " I stated.
" Oh." Sid echoed.
" I don't know what to do about it?" I said.
" Go to NYC." Sid said.
" I can't." I told him.
" Why? " He asked.
" We are here and we need to be here for this celebration." I told him.
Then Karan came over to us and asked us,
"You guys ready?" Karan asked.
" Us?" Sid asked.
" Yeah." Karan said.
" Both of us have to go on stage?" Sid conferred.
" No. Only Varun has to." Karan finished.
" Oh thank goodness." Sid proclaimed.
" So Varun, nervous?" Karan asked me.
" Oh yeah." I told our mentor.
" Don't worry. We won't judge you." Karan said.
Still I was tense.
Then Karan said bye and left to return to his seat in the audience along with Sid.
A couple minutes later I went up on stage. So all you guys know me.
Being here, it's very special.
Its not everyday a move turns 20 years old.
Karan, it's a very special day for you and the whole team. I know because you have been talking about this occasion for a week now.
There is something Karan asked me to say but before I say that, I want to ask
" Shah Rukh sir, so I have seen Kuch kuch hota hai many many times in the last how many ever years. I just can't count. So there is one question I want to ask you.
" In every scene your hair looks wet or just damp and it looks very silky. I have tried that but mine doesn't look the same. So what do you use to get your hair like that."
I run down to Shah Rukh and he answers
" It's spirit." He answers.
" Thank you. "Anyways, thank you Karan for making this movie.
I go off stage and breathe a sigh relief.
I see Karan coming towards me from the audience.
He comes over to me and congratulates me.
" Thank you Varun for that."
" You're welcome.
Then I hugged Karan and he says,
" Go sit with Sid I'm going on stage now. Then I run down to the audience and sit with Sid.
" That was a beautiful speech Varun. " Sid complemented me.
" Thanks."
Then we focused on Karan.
Karan started
This is not an acceptance speech. This is a very quick speech. We are eventually going to get into the video message from people who are not here but before that I would like to thank Shah Rukh, Kajol and Rani for giving me an opportunity to direct you and making this movie so special.
The whole shooting experience I will never forget, the times we had on set with my father and the rest of the cast. Sana Saeed who played little Anjali in the movie and came back to the movies with Student of the Year. While we're here, let me quickly say that Student of the Year turns 6 years this year which is in 3 days. 19th October 2018.
Sorry for going off track so without any further ado let's have the video messages.
Then Alia came on screen.
So as eveyone knows Kuch kuch hota hai is a very special movie. I remember when I was small, I must've watched it when I was about 8 years and even from that year being in love with the lights, the colors, and the different sets.
Its unbelievable you got to go shoot in Scotland, Karan.
Anyways, I remember these small small incidents that took place.
So, I cut my hair and basically dressed like Kajol. So the hairband, the short hair. Basically the whole tomboy look. Its was a trend. I went to school and realized I was not the only one doing it, everyone girl in school was doing the same.
Anyways thank you Karan for making this movie.
