Wait.
This guy is the CHIEF of Berk?!
Alice was frozen in shock, staring at this man who was apparently the leader of these dragon riding Vikings. She wouldn't have guessed he was the chief, after all he was quite scrawny compared to most Vikings. And he looked pretty young to, probably somewhere in his mid-twenties. Flash narrowed his eyes at the man, cautiously backing away from him.
"When I went missing, I uh..." Gael spoke up. He glanced at Alice before continuing. "I found Alice stranded on this small island a few hours away from here."
Hold on, what is he talking about? Alice thought, confused.
"You see, Scatterspine and I got lost after she flew away from the group. We wandered for a few days until we found Alice, who had gotten stranded and was taking care of this Flightmare," He gestured to Flash. "after he broke his wing in a fight with another dragon."
"Another dragon did this?" Hiccup asked, walking over to Flash and looking at his wing. "This looks more like an injury from a crash..."
"Uh... w-well, the dragon he was fighting must've been really powerful, I guess?" Alice stammered, deciding to go along with the fake backstory Gael created.
"Yeah, if it did this much damage..." Hiccup agreed. He stood up and looked at the two teens. "I'll ask Gobber to make a splint for him. For now, you two go to the Great Hall."
Gael tilted his head. "Why?"
"So we can talk about Alice," Hiccup explained. "If a mysterious stranger shows up on our island we aren't going to just ignore it."
"Oh, right." Gael looked over at Alice. "Come on, we should get going."
Alice nodded reluctantly and followed Gael outside, thanking Gothi for helping Flash. Once she stepped outside though, she froze in her tracks at what she saw. Standing outside next to Scatterspine was a Night Fury, but before she could say something Hiccup climbed onto the dark dragon's back and it disappeared into the village below.
"Tha-That was a..." Alice was at a complete loss for words. Were her eyes tricking her? Did she really just see the most deadly dragon known to man standing in front of her?
"Night Fury?" Gael finished her sentence. "Yeah, that's the chief's dragon."
"You didn't tell me he rode a NIGHT FURY!" Alice exclaimed, gesturing in the direction of where the chief and the Night Fury disappeared. "How- What- I thought they were extinct!"
"Err, supposedly Toothless is the last one." Gael explained, rubbing the back of his head. "Oh right, I forgot to mention that's his name. Toothless."
"You forgot to mention that there was a Night Fury here in the first place!" Alice threw her arms up in exasperation.
"And one last detail you should know about Toothless... he's uh... the king of dragons." Gael said, climbing onto his dragon's back.
"The what?!"
Alice couldn't believe it. She wasn't on Berk for even five minutes and she already met the chief and saw a Night Fury, which also just so happened to be the king of dragons she kept hearing about. What else was on this crazy island?
Scatterspine landed in front of a large building that appeared to be the Great Hall. It was the size of three Monstrous Nightmares that looked like it had been built inside a giant cave on the side of the mountain. On the right was a statue of a dragon curled around a giant torch, and on the left was another giant torch but instead a large Viking statue was holding it. The statue looked different from the rest of the Viking statues Alice had seen on their way to the Great Hall, while the rest of the statues were cone-shaped with human details carved into them, this one looked more realistic.
