Yin Zi.

Did he just call me 'Yin Zi' like we have already established our closeness?

Bai Luo Yin couldn't help but look at the direction of the person he really didn't know that much. He had only seen and interacted with him once and that was enough for him to swear that the both of them would probably never get along.

They said that first impression last and he knew with absolute certainty that that is true. His interaction with General Gu's son that very first time will always be colored by how they interact now.

But it seemed that wouldn't be the case with him. Gu Hai had a huge smile on his face as he walked towards him with sure steps. Bai Luo Yin couldn't resist frowning.

"Hey! Nice to see you," Gu Hai greeted him in a nice way, making him look thoroughly at the other with doubt in his eyes.

The first time they finally knew each other, Bai Luo Yin was certain this person hated him for being the son of his now stepmother. In fact, he was the one who started the whole unpleasant talk between them that night.

Despite getting over it, he couldn't help thinking unpleasantly about that night. For some reason, this person has the natural ability to get on his nerves that others rarely does.

That isn't exactly a good talent to have.

He ignored the other, certain that Gu Hai had to have some unpleasant schemes that he'll spring up at him the moment his guard was down. Unfortunately, his best friend didn't get the hint.

"Who is he Yin Zi?" Yang Meng looked at him and the other curiously, alternating his gaze in between them. Bai Luo Yin couldn't help giving his friend a look that the other immediately understood. Yang Meng blinked his eyes at him in confusion. Although he seemed to have understood that he wanted him to shut up, he appeared to not even know why.

I should train his thinking ability further, Bai Luo Yin couldn't help but think inwardly as he sighed. Yang Meng should really at least attempt to deduce why, not look on in obvious confusion. He's just inviting the other party to respond. He opened his mouth to tell him that about his supposed task in this place but before he could speak, Gu Hai already opened his mouth to answer.

"Hi! I'm Yinzi's brother, Gu Hai." Bai Luo Yin's eyes went wide at that. Did he really just introduced me as his brother? And what is with this 'Yin Zi' thing?

"Brother? You have a brother?" Yang Meng looked at him in surprise.

"I didn't know you have a brother," the lady who was with Gu Hai commented.

"Yeah, just recently," Gu Hai answered with a smile. Bai Luo Yin stared at the other intently, trying to see what he is getting at. Gu Hai, upon seeing him looking gave him a wide smile. His frown deepened.

"Yin Zi! Why didn't you tell me you have a brother?" Yang Meng immediately nagged him.

"I did." He was pretty sure he told him, though that was years ago, back when they were still in high school.

"You didn't!"

Bai Luo Yin rolled his eyes at his friend, predictably knowing that he probably forgot. After all, he just told about it once. He grabbed his hand firmly. "Stop dawdling around. Weren't you supposed to leave those papers?"

"Ah!" Yang Meng's eyes widened. He changed Bai Luo Yin's grip so that he's the one who is now holding the other's hand and dragged him towards the door where he is supposed to go.

Bai Luo Yin didn't mind as Yang Meng has always been like this. He had to pause for a bit though, making his friend uselessly pull him when he saw Gu Hai frowning at them.
