Momoe's POV
"Hoshi-ah! Hoshi-ah!"
"Naega Hosh." He does his signature move.
"Don't make me push you off this couch, Soonyoung."
"Hehe~ O-okay..." he laughs nervously.
"We should have a day in." I plop down on the couch next to him then lay my head in his lap.
His fingers begin to run through my hair, carefully untangling whatever strands need to be undone. I close my eyes, the feeling making me sleepy. Oh how I missed the days like this...
"If we have a day in, what do you feel like doing in the meantime?" He asks.
I open my eyes and smile up at him. His eyes start to sparkle, stopping his fingers from stroking the locks of my long brown hair. I pout, making him mimic my expression.
"Hoshi-ssi~ Keep brushing my hair. I like when you do that." I admit, my cheeks reddening.
"I know." He smiles, "I just wanted to hear you say it again."
"Yah!" I slap his chest, making him laugh, "I think if we're gonna stay in, we should make a cake." I smile cheekily.
"A cake?"
"Ne. I want pink velvet." I whine.
A smile slowly creeps onto his face and he chuckles. Immediately, I know what he's going to do.
"Don't you mean Red Velvet?" He snickers.
I deadpan, shaking my head.
"Pink velvet, Hosh. Not the band!"
"Alright! I was trying to make you laugh, but I guess it didn't work." He pouts.
"You can make me smile... just any other time. Don't use Kpop references again when I don't listen to it." I pat his cheek, sitting up and walking to my kitchen.
"Where's eomma?" He asks, walking after me and grabbing the bowls and such while I get the ingredients.
"She's working right now. I'm guessing she won't be back till late, so we have the day to ourselves." I smile at him as we set the stuff down on the counter at the same time.
"Ready to make the best cake ever?" He smiles big.
"You bet! Maybe the boys will want some later!" I suggest.
"Maybe... But let's ask tomorrow. I want you all to myself today, nobody interrupting us, especially one of my friends."
"Fine. You jealous boy." I pinch his nose, making him scrunch it.
I laugh at his cute expression then I turn to face the counter. Sucking in a big breath, I exhale then start grabbing the items to mix the ingredients.
"What do you need me to get?" He asks.
"Can you get the items on that list and set it right here? I need to turn on the oven." I point to a cookbook at the end of the counter.
When I turn back from the oven, I almost face palm when I see one egg already smashed on the floor. He laughs nervously, making me mutter underneath my breath as I clean it up.
"Mianhe, Byeol-ah." He frowns at me when I stand up.
"It's okay, Hoshi-ah. You're new to this."
"Actually... I made those cupcakes last time when you surprised me at my house."
My eyes widen. Really? I didn't know he knew how to make cupcakes. When we were younger and baked together, he put the ingredients in the bowl while I mixed it, like now.
"Do you want to try it on your own then? I'll hold back so you can show off your skills." I wink.
He blinks at me, dumbfounded then clears his throat.
"Okay. I'll do it myself." He smiles brightly.
After five minutes, I'm quite impressed by how concentrated he looks while following the directions. Once in a while, he'll be mixing and quickly look up at me. He smiles at me then goes back to mixing, still smiling for a couple minutes after. I can't help but get butterflies. How cute is that? Wouldn't you be flattered that a pretty and soft boy continued to smile after seeing you? I'm not saying I have feelings for him or anything, but it still made my stomach flip. I haven't felt that since-
"Byeol-ah~ You look upset." He pouts.
I smile. What a sweetheart~
"Aniyo, Hoshi-ah. I'm alright. Just a lot on my mind that's all." I give him an eye smile.
"I won't push it. You seem just deep in thought. You're lucky I know you the way I do." He dips his finger in the batter and pokes my nose.
My eyes cross to look at the batter then lick it. Smacking my lips together, I wonder if it tastes good or not. My eyes widen when I realize it's amazing.
"Wah~ Hoshi-ah, it tastes like heaven! I can't wait till it's in cake form! Palli palli!"
"Aish! Patience is key. With patience comes a great gift." He chuckles as he pours the batter into a pan.
"Damn, who said you can be this deep with me?" I laugh.
"I can be serious too." He pouts.
He walks over to the oven and places the pan into it. He turns back to look at me and smiles.
"What should we do now?"
I purse my lips, thinking then gasping when an idea pops into my head.
"When's the last time you've seen videos of us when we were kids?"
"Omo... Since the first year of high school." He blinks in surprise, probably realizing how long it's been.
"Shall we cringe and laugh at our old home videos?" I smirk, nodding my head towards a tall bookcase in the living room.
"Is that what all of those DVDs are?! I've been wondering for ages! Your eomma would never tell me." He rushes up to it and grabs the very first case, "Byeol-ah! I think this one is of the first birthday party we had together!"
"I still can't believe that for years our parents had our birthday party together smack dab in the middle of our birthdays." I shake my head as I grab it from him to play the disc.
"That's right. Two weeks apart. But we got used to it after having it every year together. It didn't seem right to have a birthday party without you. After you left, I had two birthdays without you and it seemed off, even if the boys were there. I missed being happy on the special day with my best friend." He smiles.
"I missed it too. I forgot how happy I was having to share a party with you."
I put the DVD into the DVD player and immediately see little Soonyoung and me pushing each other out of the way to blow out the candles on the cake. I laugh and stand up next to him to watch the video.
On the screen, little me whined that he wasn't sharing his cake with me and I started crying. Little Soonyoung got a fork full of cake then held it up to me. I sniffled and wiped my eyes. He fed it to me, smiling brightly. I ate it happily and hugged him, giggling.
The next video comes on and we're now eight years old at the park. He was on the swing while I was pushing him higher and higher.
"Soonyoung-ssi! I want to stop! I'm getting tired of pushing." I whined.
"Okay, Momoe-ah."
I brought him to a stop and he jumped off the swing. Laughing a bit, he ran over to the staircase of the playground only to trip and scrape his knee. I rushed over to him once he started freaking out seeing the small amount of blood coming out.
"Ow! Ow! Ow! Momoe~ It hurts!" He pouted, getting watery eyes.
"Don't worry! Momoe will help." I patted his head before grabbing the end of my dress and dabbing his knee with it softly.
He stared in wonder as he watched me go to our parents to get some bandaids. I stuck my tongue out in concentration as I placed it over the wound, smiling at my work.
"There! All done!" I giggled.
"Wah~ Gomawo, Momoe-ah!" He tackled me in a hug, both of us laughing.
The last video is the two of us around fifth grade, older but still a bit childish. We definitely matured at this time so we're not as kiddish but playful enough to where we're not troublesome.
"Is this-" Hoshi asks in real life.
"Shh! It is!" I cover his mouth, smiling big.
"Soonyoung-ah?" Little me looked at little him.
"Ne?" He looked at me and blinks.
"We're gonna be best friends forever, right?"
"Of course! I'll never leave you! You're my best friend, Momoe." He smiled.
"Your smile is so bright. Reminds me of the sky at night."
"Jinjja?" His cheeks reddened.
"Ne. Maybe I should call you... Hoshi." I smiled.
"Hoshi?" He tilted his head in confusion, making me laugh.
"Mianhe. I forgot you don't know Japanese. The name Hoshi is like the name Byeol."
"If I'm your Hoshi, can you be my Byeol?" He smiled.
"Okay. I like that." Little me leaned my head on his shoulder.
