I got up out of my seat and looked around at the smoke and rubble. That's when I realized my ankle was throbbing, it felt twisted. I looked around at all the glass and trash littering the floors. There were air bags hanging limp from the ceiling and the windows were knocked out. Where were we? I started to limp towards the front past all the still bodies. I was the only survivor from what I can see. The plane hit the ground hard because the whole front half was nowhere to be seen. When I got out of our half of the plane onto the dirt I heard a cry. It sounded like a baby. It was coming from the plane.
I dragged my foot back in and looked around every single passenger but there was no baby to be seen. As I got closer to the back the crying got louder. I needed to save her, she might be hurt. That's when I looked down and realized that I'm not looking to good myself. I had mud covering my hands and arms and ashes on my face. It's beeter than being dead.
I got to the last town and I saw a lady that looked a little bit younger than my mom holding a newborn in her hands l. She had the baby close to her chest and a hand over its head. The baby saw me and started to cry some more. I climbed over two other passenger and grabbed the baby. It was clean and cut-free. The baby had on a Grey shirt with a truck on it and blue shorts. Must be a boy. I felt it's diaper and it was definately full. No wonder he was crying. As I was climbing back over to the aisle I felt something that felt like a backpack. I reached down and plucked it up to see it had 'Johnny' written in blue letters on the front. I opened it up and looked inside. It had diapers and wipes and cream for diaper rash. On the side pocket there were two cold bottles of milk. I swung the bag over my shoulder and stepped out of the plane. I layed one of his blankets on the ground and changed him. That's when I decided we needed to signal that we were here and alive.
I started to limp down the hill past the trees. Johnny started to sob his eyes out. I pulled out a bottle, but he didn't want it. I felt his diaper, but it was clean. I began to rock him back and forth and his eyes started to shut. Good. If he was asleep I could get around easier. I cradled him in my arms and limped down towards a stream. When I got closer it looked a lot deeper then knee deep. It looked like it would go up to my waist. That's when I realized I was only wearing shorts and a t-shirt. I forgot I was too lazy to change. A breeze came by and made me shiver. It was cold. I bet that stream was colder.
I put one foot in. Goosebumps covered my arms and legs. My shoes filled with water and made a squishing sound for every step I took. I began to walk through slowly. My shorts and bottom of shirt were soaked. I lifted Johnny up higher so he wouldn't get wet. When I got over the stream I looked around. Everything looked the same.
Except the clouds.
They were dark blue and black. It was gonna rain. I needed to get us to a safe, dry place. I began to limp a bit faster. I was shivering and shaking. I finally found a tree with big branches to cover us. I say down and leaned on the trunk. I was starving. And shivering. And tired. I felt my eyes get heavy. Involuntarily, they closed.
I felt something dripping on my face. I opened my eyes to see it was rain. I also realized Johnny wasn't in my arms anymore.
He can't walk either.
