You stand in the halls of Hogwarts, the bright candlelight illuminating the dining hall. To summarize it, you had been brought to Hogwarts on the Hogwarts Express, a train from platform 9 and 3/4. Now, all the first years are waiting to be sorted into their houses, like their families for the school. Many had already been sorted, including two of your new friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Harry had as well, joining the two friends in the house of Gryffindor.
After much time, everyone had been sorted. Everyone that is, except for you. You walk towards a stool that held the Sorting Hat, an old material that could speak. Before you could even sit, it was set on your head, and it didnt hesitate to cry out.
"Dratheum!"
"What?" You ask out loud, the already sorted four houses stirring with curiosity. Dratheum? Thats not a house! What is this?
"Silence!"
Everyone stops their crazed speaking at Dumbledores words, and you turn to him. McGonagall had taken the hat from you, storing it away. He demanded that the feast begin, and the students quickly complied from their long array of tables. Your black robe shifts with you as you stand, looking to the professors table. Just as Dumbledore had stood from his golden chair, all other teachers had stood, as well as Hagrid. They lead you out of the great hall, into a nearby hallway. They all stare down at you, and you purse your lips.
"I would like to point out that I didnt technically do anything wrong." You say, putting your hands on your hips. McGonagall smiles, and she clasps her frail hands together.
"No, Miss (L/N) you did not. We expected this to happen."
"What? For me to be sorted into a house that doesnt exist?"
"It does exist." Snape says, his monotone voice sending shivers down your spine. You raise an eyebrow, and Dumbledore grins.
"Perhaps it is time I told you of your heritage. McGonagall will tell your peers of the current situation." With that, the teachers leave to attend to the students who are dining, and Hagrid pats a hand on your shoulder in reassurance as he goes. Dumbledore behind to glide down the halls, taking many turns as you follow him.
"Your parents were very important people, (Y/N)." He begins, turning yet another corner. "Your mother was a pureblood decendant of Meredith Dratheum, the fifth founder of Hogwarts."
"Fifth? But there were only four founders." I state, knowing this as fact. Dumbledore shakes his head, and you carefully listen to his words.
"Thats what Meredith wanted to be told. Your grandmother, centuries ago, was a powerful witch. The most powerful, in fact. Thus became the Dratheum house, those of the powerful."
"Thats it? The powerful? But the other houses, they all tell you something about yourself. Brave, wise, loyal, cunning, what about me?" You ask, needing to know the answer as everyone else did.
"There lies your answer. You are a mix of all four houses, obtaining each of these traits. But with such a great power, there must lie flaws." Dumbledore slows to a stop at a towering wooden door, the handles carved into shape a of dragons. You look up at him, seeing the reoccuring pattern of the creature.
"Dragons?"
"Precisely. Powerful, ancient creatures that took a liking to your family. The first dragon, the Leviathen, even muggles knew of. Your grandmother wished to destroy the great evil, but all she could do was banish it into a permanent slumber. Though, when Meredith battled it, she was bitten. The venom of the beast seeped into her veins, contaminating her blood. It runs through all of her family.....and now through you."
You cast your gaze to the ground, processing the information. As you understand it all, you look back up to Albus.
"A curse, then?"
"Yes."
".....What is it?"
"Has your adoptive family ever....irritated you to a breaking point?" You roll your eyes at this, it was clear he knew the Dursleys.
"You obviously know them."
"Have they?" He persists, to which you sigh.
"No. Ive never 'snapped' at them so to speak. There have been times Ive came close, but I thought it would upset Harry."
"And during these times, have you noticed any changes in your appearance?"
With his words, you remember the recent zoo incident. Dudley had pushed you, and you swore you could see your teeth grow sharp, maybe even your iris' turn yellow.
"The blood of Leviathen runs in you, Miss (L/N). That is your curse."
"So I'm part dragon?" You ask, awestruck. The professor nods, and your confused frown curls into a grin. He shakes his head at this, clearly dissapointed.
"This isnt a good thing, (Y/N). If you ever grow too outraged, you could become uncontrollable. You are would be a danger to your friends." Your happiness decreases at the statement, and you bite your lip.
"Which is why we've decided we need to keep you supervised. Your grandmother was rather close to Salazar Slytherin, they got along quite well. So, we have decided to keep you under the watch of someone from that house, but will keep you in as many classes as possible with Mister Potter. He seems to keep you calm." You nod, knowing that he was right.
"So, tomorrow you will become aquainted with Draco Malfoy, a student in Slytherin who will make sure to keep you under control." You nod once more, though for some reason that name seems familiar...
"Well then, I will leave you to your quarters. As Dratheum ordered, no one of her blood has been accepted into Hogwarts. But, you are special. The Dark Lord seems to have something to do with you, and we need to find out why. This place was Merediths, and now yours. Unlike most houses, you don't have a password to enter. Good evening, Miss (L/N)."
With that, the headmaster leaves, and you turn back to the large oak door. This was....quite a bit to process. You decide to not let it get to you, opening the doors to your room swiftly. As you enter, you grow rather disappointed.
