Chapter 1
No one in the quiet, empty street heard the sound of a gun being loaded. As the two men dressed in black broke the handle on the door they pushed it open and crept into the quiet house. They went through many rooms of the house before finally finding the long staircase that winded up to the second floor. Scurrying up the stairs, they came to a long carpeted hallway. The two men new exactly which door it was. It was the one at the end with a big rose engraved into the dark coloured wood. Walking down the dark hall to the door the men prepared them selves for attack.
However, the married couple on the other side already knew what was going on, and what was about to happen. The couple had woken up from their slumber an hour and a half ago. They had also gotten dressed in black and had their guns loaded.
They had known that this was going to happen for weeks now, even months. That afternoon they had driven their small daughter Mackenzie, with the long auburn hair just like her mothers, miles out of town and to her grandmothers. Knowing she was going to be safe there they said their final, and probably last goodbyes, before driving back home.
Everyone that was now in the house was prepared. As the two men in black walked up to the door they opened it swiftly before sticking their guns forward. The first bullet that was fired only just missed the head of one of the men stood in the doorway.
"You knew we were coming didn't you?" A deep scratchy like voice came from one of the men.
"We've known for ages. I'm surprised you didn't figure it out that we'd find out somehow." The husband said.
"Oh, how we did."
That's when it truly began.
Three men jumped through the single large window in the room and instantly started shooting. The husband and wife had no time to react – not knowing that, that was going to happen. As the wife fell to the ground her beloved husband fell soon after.
"We're done here. Now lets go before someone realizes!" The man with the deep voice yelled to the rest of his men. They quickly jumped out of the window and landed on the soft grass below, before running off across the field and too the black cars they had parked on the other side.

The next morning Mackenzie woke up and quickly packed her bags. She didn't know why she had to spend the night at her grandmothers, but she was ecstatic to go back home and be with her parents again.
Her grandmother being the old sweet lady she was had not properly listened to Mackenzie's parents. She was happy to have her granddaughter around, even though it was only for one night. But when her daughter and son in law were explaining to her not to bring their daughter back to her home for several weeks, she wasn't listening. Too caught up in the excitement of having the small girl around.
So that morning at around half past ten, Mackenzie's grandmother had simply driven back to her home.
Mackenzie raced up to the door with a huge smile on her face, with her grandmother following closely behind. But as she reached the door, the smile fell from her face. The door was open ajar and the handle was smashed on the ground. But still she went into her home feeling confused and slightly scared.
